REQUIREMENTS:
Topic 1 - Vermicomposting
▪ Make a vermicomposting project
- site – it should be near the area of the group members
- group members – composed of 1-7 members, should be near to each other
(by location not by friendship), make sure not to travel so far just to be
with the group to facilitate group activities
- vermi bed – at least 1 sq. meter, depth of 12 inches
- substrates – any biodegradable/ pre-decomposed materials
- vermi – 1 kilo, not required to buy but make sure to look for a compost worm
- water the bed everyday or as the need arises
- harvest vermicompost
- make sure to document/take pictures on the activities done
REQUIREMENTS:
Topic 2: Organic Sugarcane Cultural Practices
Topic 3: Organic Sugarcane Fertilization

▪ Plant sugarcane using the following:


1. Ring Pit
2. Sack
3. Drum
 Using Ring Pit
✓ Make 3 pits/holes with a diameter of 1m and depth of
8 inches
✓ Use/plant 7-10 canepoints in each pit/hole
✓ Apply 5kgs. vermicompost - basal application per
pit/hole
✓ Apply vermi tea to sugarcane
✓ Water the sugarcane everyday or as the need arises
✓ Monitor, document or take pictures of the activities
done
✓ Record weekly the plant height, number of leaves,
number of shoots, germination percentage per
pit/hole
 Using Sack (cement) or Drum
✓ Use 3 sacks / drums
✓ Use/plant 3 canepoints for sack and 5 canepoints for
drum
✓ Apply 2kgs. vermicompost - basal application per
sack or 3 kgs vermicompost when drum is used
✓ Apply vermi tea to sugarcane
✓ Water the sugarcane as the need arises
✓ Monitor, document or take pictures of the activities
done
✓ Record weekly the plant height, number of leaves,
number of shoots, germination percentage per sack /
drum
