Throughout the years of studying, mathematics has
always been included in the subjects that all students need to
take. Many dreads mathematics because of the combination
of numbers and letters and the constant need to compute,
solve, and come up with a certain answer. As for me, I don't
fear math, but it is not my favorite subject either, for the
reason that math has a broad spectrum of topics that varies
from easiest to hardest. I have always seen mathematics
similarly for a game.

Resembling to a game, mathematics has levels of

difficulty, and it has its own rule that needs to be followed to
be able to solve the problem. In each level, I also have
different perception about math. During elementary,
learning basic math with basic rules, I am a math enthusiast,
who loves the said subject. I found math as easy as walking in
a park. However, when I entered junior high school, I started
to feel frustrated with math. It is not like I hated it, but it
became more challenging that it needs more understanding
and to thoroughly follow the formulas. And as I started senior
high school, even with my strand, Humanities and Social
Sciences, math subject are still included in the curriculum.
Nevertheless, with the knowledge from the previous years,
math is not as hard as it seems. My knowledge about math
expanded and it is marked in my mind that math is not a
scary subject as long as the problems are comprehended
properly and thoroughly master the rules in solving certain
problems. Furthermore, the reason why I have seen math
similarly for a game is because there are a lot of ways to solve
problems just like finishing a certain level in a game. It is
through coming up with own strategy that requires the
ability to try to think creatively and to think in many ways,
far beyond the rules and formulas already given. Rules are to
be followed, but if there's an easier way to solve a problem, I'll
go with it. Lastly, much like as we need games or
entertainment in our life, math is also essential. Many view
the lessons in math as useless because it can't be used in our
everyday life, but math is everywhere. The time, our height
and weight, our age, and the money, it all involves numbers.

Mathematics is a game that follows a set of rules, it is up

to people how to view and strategize to solve the problems. I
for one, view math as sometimes simple, sometimes hard, but
it is needed and present in our lives, and so I will not hate it,
rather I will do my best to comprehend and think beyond the
rules and formulas.
