Ec-Tds Analyser - CM 183 ELICO.: 1) Works Instructions

The document provides instructions for operating an EC-TDS analyzer model CM 183 ELICO. It outlines steps for installation, calibration, and taking measurements of samples. Key steps include keeping the analyzer clean and dust-free, soaking new electrodes in distilled water for 24 hours, calibrating using a 0.01N KCL solution that should read 1409μS/cm at 25°C, rinsing electrodes with distilled water between samples, and switching the analyzer off after taking measurements.

EC-TDS ANALYSER –CM

183 ELICO.
1) Works Instructions
1.1 Keep all installation requirements as per given in user’s manual.

1.2 Always keep EC-TDS meter clean, dust free, free form vibration & shocks.

1.3 Always keep the electrode in fresh D.M. water, daily change this D.M. water

1.4 Ensure, various containers are absolutely clean, dry &free from alkalinity.

1.5 The quantity of solutions/ samples are sufficient enough to ensure immersion of
sensor part of the cell/ probes.

1.6 Keep the sample-filled-container near the cell /probe stand and lower the holding
clamp to dip the sensor part of the cell in the sample. Insert thermo- probe also into the
sample.

1.7 Always keep a bundle of tissue paper and rinse bottle containing D.M. water .

1.8 A new EC-TDS meter cell should be soaked in distilled water at least 24 hours .

2) Operation &Calibration
2.1 Switch on the EC-TDS meter and wait for a few minute (5 to 10 min.) for warm up .

2.2 Rinse the cell with D.M. water &wiping with tissue paper .

2.3 For operation , operate the EC-TDS meter as per operation given in EC-TDS meter
manual CM 183 (3.5 operation instructions ,peg no. 6 to 14 )

2.4 For calibration prepared 0.01N KCL solution(procedure given in manual in ANNEXURE-
F, it should be 1409μS/ cm ∓ 1 % at 25 0 C .

2.5 Dip the cell in beaker containing standard solution of KCL( 1409μS/cm at 250 C ) and
check the conductance as per 2.3 . If the reading on screen is in between 1409∓ 1 %
then ,the performance of EC-TDS meter is ok . Record the observed reading in In House
Calibration Register of EC-TDS Meter.
2.6 Rinse the cell with D.M. water and dip in to D.M. water.

Note:-Cleaning of the electrode, Immerse the electrodes of the cell in dilute

Potassium Dichromate (K2Cr2O7) in 6 N Sulphuric Acid (H2 SO4) for 24 Hrs ones in
month. Rinse in running water followed by D.M. water.

For Re- Plastinizing, Follow the procedure given in manual of EC-TDS meter in

ANNEXURE – E on peg E-1.

3) Measurement of EC or TDS of Sample.

3.1 Switch on the EC –TDS meter and rinse the electrode with D.M. water.

3.2 Dip the electrode in a beaker containing sample and follow the procedure 2.3.

3.3 After taking reading of EC or TDS, Remove the electrode from sample & rinse with D.M.
water, wipe with tissue paper, then clamp on stand and immersed in D.M. water.

3.4 Switch off the EC-TDS meter.
