Different Space Requirements for the different Educational Projects

A. Pre-school, Nursery School and Day care Center


Must promote conductive atmosphere leading towards the educational objectives and must
consider child’s space and orderliness. The planner must consider the high pitch of school
children since it may cause disturbance on class that needs a complete silence.

General Space Requirements:

1. General Area – place for group activities like programs, singing, dancing etc.
2. The block area - where children play with unpainted blocks that are uniformed in height but
varying length or a group of blocks with different geometrical shapes.
3. Manipulative Toy Area- location where children can go and play after exploring the block area.
4. Reading and Listening Area- library room where children read with the assistance of teacher.
5. Doll and housekeeping Area- considered the most attractive area for the school girls.
6. Art Area is where the children draw, paint, play with clay modeling gum paste and etc.
7. Tutoring booth
8. Toilet and storage
9. Observation space.

B. Elementary and Junior and Senior High School Building, Campus

Must promote special environment that will attract and suit functions of education it serves to help
the learnings of the students. Must help them to engage, interact and develop their social,
intellectual, physical and emotional well-being. Must be compatible with the quality, needs and
changeable factors of the school.

General Space Requirements:

1. Classrooms (depending on the number of students provided)


2. Special Rooms for clubs and etc.
3. School halls
4. Staff room
5. Office room
6. Student’s common room
7. Library and reading room
8. Computer room
9. Toilet
10. Gymnasium (P.E activities and programs)

C. Technical and Vocational School Building, Campus


We must consider the seating and writing purposes of the students. Spaces and furniture
location is must since there will be mostly used technical, machines and other technologies that
are required to any course of the subject. Wall spaces for blackboards, windows and screen are
must be carefully plan for the convenience and help students learning developments. Facilities
for visuals are important for learning and development. Air conditioning, acoustics and lighting
are important factors since its important have privacy and comfort of both users and instructors
within the premises. Space requirements are the same as these structures but bigger and host a
lot of students.
