EEE321 CT2 Summer 2021

1) The document provides instructions for students taking an exam on digital signal processing concepts. It defines formulas for calculating values of a1, a2, a3, b1, b2, and b3 based on the student's ID number. 2) The exam then asks 5 questions about analyzing and converting a 3rd order digital low-pass filter to a high-pass filter. Students are asked to identify the filter type, write its difference equation, determine its transfer function, write the difference equation for the equivalent high-pass filter, and calculate the frequency response.

𝒂𝟏 = Absolute value of the Difference between your Student ID’s last Two digits. If it is zero then
add with the 1st digit of your ID

𝒃𝟏 = Absolute value of the Summation of your Student ID’s last Two digits minus the initial digit of
your ID.
𝒂𝟐 = 𝟐 − 𝒂𝟏 𝒂𝟑 = 𝒂𝟏 + 𝟐𝒂𝟐 𝒃𝟐 = 𝒃𝟏 − 𝟐 𝒃𝟑 = 𝟐𝒃𝟏 + 𝒃𝟐

For the following digital low-pass filter, with order 𝑀 = 𝑁 = 3. Answer the following
questions. Given, 𝑏0 = 1, 𝑎0 = 1

1. Determine the type of the filter and provide evidence for your answer. 2
2. Write down the associated difference equation expression. 4
3. Determine the transfer function of the filter. 4
4. Convert the filter into a high pass one and write down its difference equation. 5
5. Find the Frequency Response of the resultant high-pass filter. 5
