Market trends
Why does solar make
sense in Romania today?

6
Market trends

Accessible technology
Looking at the costs of a solar investment, we can see
a price drop of 75 percent in the last 8 years.

Technological advancement, but also mass

production of equipment, have been the factors that
have supported this steep decline.

Most likely, we are close to the lower limit, but any

further decrease will be possible as a result of the
optimization of the production, but mostly of the
integrator.

Conclusion

The investment in solar energy is advantageous from

all points of view.

Market trends

Market trends regarding the

cost of energy
The price of electricity is a defining factor in the
amortization of any investment in solar energy
production.

The continuous increase in the price we pay for

electricity is directly proportional to the interest
and investment in photovoltaic plants.

By following a trend in electricity prices, we can

see a steady pace of growth. Perhaps in the
context of abandoning coal and following european
patterns, we believe that the trend will remain
upward.

Goals for the long run

9
Goals

Supporting a green future

Wiren was founded to make energy available
and easily accessible to anyone.

Based on this value, we firmly believe that the

future lies with those who have the courage to
dream and get involved in creating a
sustainable and green world for future
generations.

Looking at the big picture, a future energy

transition will bring both economical and
environmental benefits.

Big picture

Quoting one of the world's biggest energy

visionaries, Nikola Tesla, who claimed that
Green energy
“energy will belong to anyone”, our vision for a Electric mobility
consumption
sustainable future encompasses several fields of
activity, all based on green energy production and
its consumption “on spot” if possible.

There are a large number of scenarios and

actions that Romania can focus on energy
independence, relying only on renewable sources.

Public transportation

12
Public transportation

Green energy for public

transportation
Most public transport companies use energy
purchased from the national grid in public
transport.

Therefore, trams use the same percentage of

green energy as there is in the grid.
Analyzing the numbers, that means 40%
green energy and 60% non-green energy
mix.

We strongly recommend investment in solar

production capacities to increase both
economic performance and the share of
green energy used.
13
Public transportation

Examples of production places

Depending on the energy needs, several areas of solar
energy production can be identified.

Examples:
● The roof of tram depots
● Tram/bus stops, etc

If these production areas are not sufficient, large-scale

production of solar energy can be used outside the
city.

The energy produced will be delivered to the public

transport company's electricity grid and used by the
company to electrify the vehicles.

Public transportation

Benefits
Such an approach can significantly reduce
energy costs.

The use of renewable energy reduces air

pollution which is an indirect factor in the
cause of death through stroke, lung cancer
and heart attack.

The city of Melbourne is aware of the

importance of improving quality of life, and
with solar energy from photovoltaic panels
used for the public transport sector, reduced
the carbon footprint, the number equalizing
the elimination of 75,000 cars or the planting
of 390,000 trees.

17
Independent lighting

18
Independent lighting

Street lighting

The cost of electric energy used for street

lighting has a significant impact on the local
authorities' budget.

By replacing the source of power generation,

public lighting costs will be reduced to
maintenance costs.

Solar energy production, day-time storage and

overnight consumption is an ideal alternative for
energy independence.

19
Independent lighting

Examples of energy
independence
With the replacement of the production source,
street lighting can enjoy two scenarios, both of
which have considerable benefits for the city:
Unitary street lighting and centralized street
lighting.

Unitary street lighting

Each lighting pole will contain photovoltaic panels

and batteries, so that night-time consumption is
covered by the daily energy production stored in
the battery.

20
Independent lighting

Examples of energy
independence
Centralized street lighting

Centralization in groups, e.g. a street/a parking lot,

will help create a hybrid system of power
generation and storage for night.

The locations where production capacities can be

installed can be different, such as:

- Roundabouts
- Tram stops
- Carport - Parking lot

21
Independent lighting- production capacity dimensioned in 3 hybrid scenarios

In all scenarios, installations are

hybrid – producing, storing,
consuming and delivering to the
grid.

Summer coverage Medium installation Independence

Balanced production capacity: Oversized production capacity:
Production capacity under-sized:

● Enough to cover spring-summer consumption ● It covers most consumption

● Sufficient to cover summer consumption
● The surplus will be sold in the grid as prosumer ● A significant energy surplus will be generated in the
● Winter will have to be purchased from the grid
● In the off-season, energy will be purchased from the summer and sold.
● It is a first step toward energy independence
grid ● Energy costs will decrease significantly
● Lighting will be predominantly renewable.
22
Energy will
belong to everyone

23
Solar energy anywhere

Green energy transition

The number of consumers interested in private

investment in solar energy is constantly
increasing.

Every energy consumer can become prosumer -

produce, consume, deliver.

The energy transition gives every consumer the

opportunity to take the first step toward energy
independence at an extremely low cost.

According to our calculations, even investments

in the residential area are going to have a
amortization in about 7 years.

24
Solar energy anywhere

Green energy transition

One of the most important starting points in

ensuring an energy transition must be an
informational and awareness campaign from
the authorities.

The tendency to become prosumer or install for

self-consumption is increasing, but we are sure
that confirmation from the authorities is very
helpful.

The involvement of the authorities can be:

● Leading by example on their own consumption places

● Information to the public about the benefits of green
energy

25
Electric mobility

26
Electric mobility

Goals

The EU targets for CO2 standards for cars for the

years 2025, and 2030 respectively show an
average emission reduction of up to 15% and
37,5%.

Standards include a mechanism to stimulate the

widespread use of zero and low emission
vehicles.

Bicycles, LSV, electric cars are just a few

options that can replace the transport for short
commutes within the city, reducing the
greenhouse gases emissions.

27
Electric mobility

The advantages of electric

mobility
The current pandemic context can serve as an
advantage in promoting electric mobility for
citizens. Mobility can be achieved independently,
respecting the rules of social distance and thus
contributing to the reduction of noise pollution and
CO2 emissions.

By creating a clear traffic delimitation, including

charging and stationary stations, we promote
healthy mobility. Therefore, the benefits of
e-mobility far outweigh only the financial
benefits.
