ABOUT
CENTRE FOR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS
CTRANS at IIT Roorkee as a Centre of Excellence in the area of Transportation Systems with an
aim to promote multidisciplinary and high quality research and education in Transportation Systems with
collective participation of Engineers, Scientists and Researchers from Science & Technology, Humanities
and Social Sciences, Architecture & Planning and Management Studies background. The Research and
Education in multidisciplinary areas covers all modes of transport like Road Transport, Rail Transport, Air
Transport, Inland Navigation & Water Transport and Pipe Line Transport.
M.Tech Program in “Infrastructure Systems” has been running since July 2013 with an objective
to provide knowledge & instil skills for contributing effectively the transportation infrastructure need of
the nation.
M.Tech Infrastructure Systems program has been revised in 2014 as a part of institute wide
initiative to revise PG curriculum. The revised program takes into account of contemporary requirement
of infrastructure sector of the country.
ABOUT
IIT ROORKEE
Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee since its establishment is among the leading institutes
of National importance for engineering, higher technological education, basic and applied research.
The institutes rank amongst the best technological institutions in the world and has contributed to
wide number of technological developments. The Institute has completed 150th year of its existence
in October 1996. On September 21, 2001, an Ordinance issued by the Government of India declared
it as the nation’s seventh Indian Institute of Technology. The Ordinance is now converted into an Act
by the Parliament to make IIT, Roorkee as an “Institution of National Importance”.
The Institute offers Bachler’s Degree courses in 10 disciplines of Engineering and Architecture
and Postgraduate’s Degree in 55 disciplines of Engineering, Applied Science, Architecture and
Planning.
The Institute admits students to B.Tech & B.Arch courses through the Joint Entrance Examination
(JEE) conducted all over India and to M.Tech program through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering
(GATE), Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Computer Application (MCA) & Masters
in Science (MSc) Programs through Common Admission Test (CAT) and Joint Admission Test (JAM).
Institute also organize its own entrance tests and personal interview for admission in M.Tech & PhD
Program.
The Institute boasts of having state-of-the-art infrastructure and other facilities. The campus
is laden with vast green covers.

INFRASTRUCTURE SYSTEMS PROGRAMME
The centre offers a 2 year post graduate programme with M.Tech in Infrastructure Systems

and analysis of problems, issues and constraints in regional and urban development of mathematical

advising them on highway projects. Dr. Ashish has expertise in traffic flow theory and control, active traffic management, traffic safety
analysis and traffic noise modelling. He is currently working on ITS usage for improved traffic data
quality.

decades.
