Double clicks used to open file or folder or run programs directly. It works by pressing and releasing twice left button of the mouse SCANNER {tis an input device used to import pictures and text documents directly into the computer. (CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT (CPU) {tis also known as as CPU or MICROPROCESSOR. itis electric brain in the computer system. it consists of three Components ARITHMATIC & LOGICAL UNIT, CONTROL UNIT AND MEMORY UNIT. Block Diagram of Computer Memory RAM/ROM. Arithmetic & Logical Unit Input Device Output Device Central Processing Unit (cpuOUTPUT DEVICEs:- Output devices are used to get the results from the computer. Some out put devices are MONITOR, PRINTER, PLOTTER, SPEAKER MOINTOR:. It is used to display the resuits of current working, programmes and applications in a computer. Itis also known as visual display unit. LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY (LCD):- It is used to display the resutts of current working, Programmes and applications in a computer. It has replaced monitors as its lighter in weight and slim in shape than a monitor. PRINTER: Printer is commonly used output device that allows a hard Copy of the output which can be Stored for later reference. e.g Dot matrix Printer, Daisy wheel Printer, ink-Jet Printer, Laser Printer. COMPUTER MEMORY:- ‘The memory is the intemal or primary storage of computer made up of small parts. The smallest part of the memory is called bit 7 ‘Combination of 8 bits = one byte (1 Byte) Combination of 1024 bytes one Kilo byte (1KB)* Combination of 1024 Kilo bytes = one Megabyte (1B) Combination of 1024 Mega bytes = one Giga byte (41GB) Combination of 1024 Gigabytes = one Tera byte (178) ‘This internal storage is of two types RAM and ROM RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY (RAM) :- It is the storage location within the ‘computer where all data and instructions required for current warking ara stored. Data can be read from it as well as writen onto it. It is a temporary or volatile memory, it means as soon as power ‘supply is switched off any information stored in this memory will be lost. READ ONLY MEMORY (ROM):- It comes with programs already writen onto it. These are the programs that computer requires for its internal working. Data/programs can be written onto it No data / programs can be written onto it. It is non-volatile memory as it retains anything within it irrespective of Power being on or off.SECONDARY STORAGE DEVICE:- It is the permanent storage device hin the computer usually used for storage of large amount of data or for permanent storage of data or programs. Few secondary storage devices are Hard Disk, CD, DVD, Pen drive ete. HARD DISK: It is @ secondary storage device used to store data, programs and applications in a computer. Universal serial Bus (USB):- it is a standard for wired connections between two electronic devices including a keyboard, mouse, printer , a mobile phone and a computer for transferring data and instructions to and from the computer. ‘COMPUTER HARDWARE:- Those Parts of the computer which we can see and touch are called hardware of the computer. e.g mouse, Keyboard, CPU, printer,CD, motherboard COMPUTER SOFTWARE:- Those programmes and Instructions which exists but we can not touch or ‘see them are called software of the computer. There are three types of software APPLICATION SOFTWARE, SYSTEM SOFTWARE, UTILITY SOFTWARE. Network:- A network is a group of interconnected computers sharing hardware, software using the ‘same communication link. Types of Networking:- The three basic types of networking are as under: 01, Local Areas Networking (LAN) 02, Metropolitan Area Networking (MAN) 03. Wide Area Networking (WAN)Types of Networking Cables:- The four types of computer networking cables are as under:- 01. Unshielded Twisted Pair cable (UTP) 02. Shielded Twisted Pair cable (STP) 03. Coaxial cable 04. Fiber optics Internet:- is @ worldwide system of computer networks, a network of networks that consists of millions of private, Public, academic, business, Social and government networks, of local to global Scope, that are linked together to share information.
