Are these file
formats BMP Poor compression ratios, resulting in very large file sizes
suitable for EPS Files contain a bit-mapped representation of the graphics for display purposes. File may
lose control of advanced vector editing features.
web or PPT? JPEG PEG format is optimized for use with photographs, particularly those to be posted on a
Web site.
PDF Can be a good format for converting printed materials — such as your organization's
direct-mail newsletter — into something that's readable on the Web
GIF Best suited for web graphics with a limited colour range, such as site navigational buttons
and headers, Will however, load faster in the user's Web browse
PCT Primarily used to exchange graphics between various Macintosh applications.
PCX Paintbrush software and is not suited for web or PowerPoint since it is not supported by a
web browser.
TGA Compression method is uncomplimentary for large photographic images but proved
suited for small, simple images such as icons, cartoons and line drawings.
PSD Not suitable for web or PowerPoint since files are too large.
PNG Has excellent compression, a wide range of transparency and exceptional interlacing.

TIFF When high resolution is required. offer a high color depth and an uncompressed option,
they are a superior format for printing highresolution photographs or other pixel-based
(raster) images
WMF Files may be too large and can contain errors.
Choice of file format

The overall quality of the web and a PowerPoint is heavily dependent on

the graphics used. It is therefore best that the graphics of a file is

minimized as much as possible to ensure compatibility. In my opinion,

the file format that which allows for this are:
