INTRODUCTION TO SOLIDWORKS

TOPIC LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. Comprehensives understanding of the SOLIDWORKS.
2. Familiarize with the SOLIDWORKS User Interface.
3. Aptitude to utilize basic functionality of SOLIDWORKS.
ACTIVITY OBJECTIVES:
1. To define about SOLIDWORKS
2. To familiarize with the user interface of SOLIDWORKS
3. To understand basic functionality of SOLIDWORKS
REQUIREMENTS:

DISCUSION:
SOLIDWORKS
SOLIDWORKS, a Dassault Systèmes brand, is a world leader in 3D solutions that
help millions of engineers and designers succeed through innovation. Our products
deliver an intuitive experience in product design, simulation, publishing, data
management, and environmental impact assessment.
Basic functionality
1. A SOLIDWORKS model consists of 3D solid geometry in a part or assembly
document.
2. Drawings are created from models, or by drafting views in a drawing document.
3. Typically, it begins with a sketch, create a base feature, and then add more features to
the model. (You can also begin with an imported surface or solid geometry.)
4. The design can be refined by adding, editing, or reordering features.
5. Associativity between parts, assemblies, and drawings assures that changes made to
one document or view are automatically made to all other documents and views.
6. Capability to generate drawings or assemblies at any time in the design process.
7. The SOLIDWORKS software saves your work for you with auto-recover.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT 10

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY COMPUTER APPLICATION LABORATORY FOR M.E.

PROCEDURE:

PART MODEL: INCLINED SUPPORT

STEP 1: First click the welcome to solid works then click part icon

STEP 2: Before starting at the bottom right corner check if the unit system is IPS, according to
the direction given.

STEP 3: Choose what best for you to start on, for me i started on front plane.

DRAWING: INCLINED SUPPORT

STEP 1: Select line and then sketching out the inclined support.

STEP 2: After sketching out then use the smart dimension to check or adjust the given
dimension, measurement to insure if it is correct or not

STEP 3: Right after that check every line for the relation to avoid errors

STEP 4: Sketch the circle right in the middle, pick a point then we are going to locate it in X and
Y, then specify the diameter of the circle. You can check the diameter using the smart
dimension.

STEP 5: After that extrude and see the drawing output.
