I didn't like Yune. At all.

Aside from the fact that the first half of his route is
so boring, I just couldn't understand him, and I can't accept that despite being
the "god" of their world, he seems to be really powerless and didn't unite the
Heights and Depths.

I mean Elt is only a head of a bank and leader of, take note, the smallest and
potentially weakest district in the Depths but even with his limited power and
influence, he was able to unite the Heights and Depths in The Lasting Future
ending.

Yune is worshipped by both worlds and is the link between them since he's
originally from the Depths. So why, even with all the power and influence in the
world, he wasn't able to do what Elt did? And instead got sent down to the Depths
like a criminal?

That was always my thought during my first four playthroughs.

But then everything changed on my fifth one. This time, I understood Yune more.
This time, I understood why they did what they did.

It was for Yune's sake. Things ended that way for Yune to achieve what he has been
wishing for all this time -- to finally have control over his life and time.

Personality and Character Development of Yune:

Yune is the immortal "god" of their world. Everyone loves and worships him. But
beneath that is a young boy who is very selfish, cruel, alone, and tired. His
character is unique and full of contradictions it took me five playthroughs to
completely understand him and let go of my prejudice. He sees things others can't.
And his gut feel is always on point. Which is why I dubbed him as the "Savior in
the Heights" because he's always there whenever Cyrus and the others are in trouble
when you're on the way to a good end.

I really love it when he's on saint mode. He's so kind, wise, and hardworking. He's
always in the church and as much as possible he loves to interact with his
followers. He's also very compassionate like when he also turned clockwise to greet
Elt's dad. He has been a saint for so long it naturally became a part of him.

It was so hilarious that even though he's the most important person in the world
and is four hundred years old, Yune still retained his youthful energy. He loves to
prank people like when he pretended to choke to death. Or when he's clearly making
fun of Cyrus when she saw him in his underwear. Or when he told Cyrus to find a
boyfriend or two. Or when he said that he'd love it if she imagined them hugging or
kissing. I couldn't stop laughing. 😆

I love these moments because the game doesn't forget to remind us that Yune is
still technically sixteen. There's still a childlike wonder in him which is why
when he was happy pointing out all of Arcenclimb's inventions, it made me smile.

Because of Sekiei's love, he lived for so long. At first it was a blessing. But it
was actually a curse that slowly drove him mad. Everyone dies before him. No one
can touch him. And most of all, deep inside, he knows, that they only "love", and
"worship" him because he's an abomination. That they can only see him as "Saint
Yune who is loved by earth so much that anything that dares to hurt him will die".

That led him to self hate, and wishing he could just die to finally be free. He
just wants to be normal. He just wants to be human again. He wants to feel the
warmth of touching someone else, and the excitement not knowing what would happen
in the future. He doesn't want to be the Saint Yune everyone reveres because they
fear him. He just wants to be Yune. Just Yune.

He's a spoiled brat. He gets what he wants and no one can say otherwise. Like when
he threw a tantrum when Warner questioned Cyrus' presence in the assembly, and he
told him that he can choose whoever he wants, and strutted away (love this moment a
lot). Or when he thought of going to the Depths and the next day, he did just that
without worrying about the consequences.

He doesn't take no for an answer. In the Punishment ending, when Cyrus rejected his
idea of being in a relationship with him, he stabbed her. 🙃 He even thanked her
for the "experiment". So cruel!

Honestly Yune is the real yandere here. It's like if he can't have Cyrus, then no
one can. And how do you make sure no one can steal her away? Why, go stabby stab
stab of course. I mean he would kill her because he thought that he love her enough
to die with her but boo, wrong. At least Fin wouldn't kill Cyrus because he can't
be with her and just for an experiment. Smh

He's so bored of his life due to his immortality so he treats human lives like
toys. It's really ironic because later on, he became Glissade's toy. 😢

He's a very selfish man. and he even admitted it. He knows that he can pull some
strings to make Cyrus innocent but he won't cuz he doesn't feel like helping her.
Or when he forced her to kill him to prove his identity to Ulrik in the A Promise
Kept ending. 🙄 At least he went back to her corpse before following Ulrik, closed
her eyes, and thanked her for everything. Still doesn't excuse what he did though.

He's so pompous I seriously couldn't wait for him to be thrown off the pedestal so
he can be more humble and considerate of others. And it did happen. But instead of
feeling victorious, it just made my heart break. 💔

But as soon as Cyrus arrived in his life, he slowly changed.

He learned how to apologize. It was so amazing when he did that for the first time.
He apologized for ordering her to kill him since there are other ways to prove his
identity and I'm like, "At least you know how stupid that was". 😒

Thanks to Cyrus, he finally found the courage to face his greatest fear -- to see
what happened to the Depths after he left, and find Arcenclimb. And he knows that
without her he wouldn't be able to do it.

It was such a heartwarming moment when he learned that Ulrik is Arcenclimb's

descendant. The smile on his face is so touching because it felt like a huge burden
was lifted off his shoulders. 🥺

Since the Depths event, he now sees her in a favorable light. He can drop the saint
act with her, and be himself. Around her, he's just Yune who is in love with her. I
really love how their relationship progressed from "I don't need your protection"
to "I look forward to your protection". 😍

He can be really sweet and romantic. When Cyrus got disappointed because Yune was
waiting for the food and not her, he added that he was also waiting for her which
made her fluster. It was so cute! ❤️

It's so funny when Yune gets jealous of Fin. 😆 He always interrupts them whenever
they have a moment. Lol.

He's now very considerate of others especially Cyrus. He's always conscious of not
touching her even though he badly wants to because he doesn't want her to get hurt.
Or when he asked the assembly in the Heights not to punish anyone again for
unsanctioned love. It's so wonderful because Yune said that he's a very selfish man
but at that moment, he was the most selfless of em all; and ironically, the most
"human" too.

Another selfless thing he did was when he didn't fight back when the people in the
Sanctuary beat him up. He just accepted it all and even forgave em. Humanity
doesn't deserve you, Yune. 😭

He loves her so much he wants her to stay by his side. Which is why when Cyrus said
that she'd like to break up, instead of forcing her to stay, he respected her
decision and let her go. And even tried his best to smile for her because he knows
that she loves it. I cried so much on that part. 😭💔

Yune may be the most selfish character here but he's also the most selfless as
well.

What I love the most about him is the fact that he never lost hope no matter what.
He truly fits his character theme. ❤️
