Procedure-06 Basic Health Check for BSC/TRC, RBSC & APG40

Introduction

This procedure is introduced for the BSS-AXE810-NOC (Network Operation

Centre) Engineers for Wataniya Telecom, Algeria. This procedure is purely
concerned with the handling of basic health check for BSC/TRC, RBSC &
APG40.

Objective

To familiarize the NOC Engineers for handling the Basic Health Check for
Ericsson BSC/RBSC & APG40 alarms during the shift handover.

1) Avoids the missing of critical/threatening alarms which may lead to

service affecting outage in BSC/RBSC and in APG40.
2) Clear information will be conveyed among the shift engineers during
Shift Handover for the pending alarms.

Procedure:

The procedure is as follows:

Step1: BSC/RBSC Health Check

ALLIP:ALCAT=APZ; (Print out the active APZ alarms)

PLLDP; (Processor Load Data, Print)

The Processor Load should be less than 15%.

DPWSP; (CP Working state, Print)

In the printout, MAU state should be NRM(normal) & SBSTATE
should be WO(Working)

SYRTP; (System Function Restart Time, Print)

Ensure that NO restart is pending.

DBTSP:TAB=SAACTIONS; (Check for size alteration)

No size alteration should be pending. In the Printout, the table
should be empty.

C7LTP:LS=ALL; (CCITT7 Link Set Print)

The Link Status should be ACTIVE.

GDSTP; (Distributed Group Switch, State, Print)

All units (CLM, XM, MUX) should be in WO(working) state.

NSSTP; (Network synchronization, Clock References state Print)

One Clock Reference State should be EX(Executive) & others should

1
be SB(Stand By).

RRTPP:TRAPOOL=ALL; (Radio Transmission Transcoder Pool, Print)

Take minimum four printouts & in the Printout, number of
POOLTRAF devices should be change. (Only for BSC/TRC)

NTSTP:SNT=ALL; (Switching Network Terminal state Print)

All the SNT state should be WO(working).

RRGBP; (Radio Transmission GB Interface Configuration Data)

In the printout, The NSVC state should be ACTIVE for both NSVCI
links. For BSC/TRC, there are two NSVCI links with SGSN & for
RBSC, there is one NSVCI link.

SYBFP:FILE; (System Backup files, Print)

In RELFSW0 file, the sub files (DSSMALL & DSLARGE) should be
available with today’s date.

STDEP:DEV=RTLTT2-XX&&-YY;(Check the status for A-ter

Interface devices). Applicable only in BSC/TRC towards each
RBSC.

STDEP:DEV=RTB-XX&&-YY; (Check the status for A-ter interface

devices). Applicable only in each Remote BSCs towards BSC/TRC.

STDEP:DEV=RALT2-XX&&-YY; (Check the status for A-interface

devices for all BSC & RBSCs in BSC/TRCs towards MSC).

Step 2: APG40 Health Check

Switch to AP Local mode.

APLOC;
(make ensure that C:\> prompt has been received)

alist (AP alarms listing)

It lists the all APG40 related alarms. Go through the each alarms &
escalate to Technical Support Engineer.

hostname (printout the AP node)

prcstate (Process Control, determine State)

Determines which AP node in Cluster is active or Passive. Note
down the active node in a logbook.

Cluster res (Check the status of Cluster Resources)

Status of all Cluster Resource should be ONLINE.

Cluster node (Check the status of both the nodes)

2
mml (man machine language communication executes)
It starts the MML session. Header will be received in the output
window of WINFIOL.

Action: For any discrepancy in system, escalate to Technical Support

Engineer.
