and Venn Diagram
Mr. Calopez asked Arthur and Betty what they have
from the list of items: book, pen, paper, ruler, pencil,
sharpener, and eraser. The two students show the items the
have. Arthur has book, pen, paper, and ruler. Betty has book,
paper, pencil, and eraser.

4. Difference – is the set of all elements of the first set
that are not elements of the second set. It is denoted by
subtractions symbol (–).
Examples:
a. Given: A = {0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6}
B = {3 , 6 , 9 , 12}
A – B = {0, 1, 2, 4, 5}
B – A = {9, 12}
b. Given: X = {1 , 6 , 9}
Y = {1 , 3 , 5 , 6 , 8 , 9}
X–Y={Ø}
Y – X = {3, 5, 8}

a collection of objects or sets. The rectangle
represents the universal set and the circles
inside represents the different subsets in
the universal set. The letter name of the set
is written beside it
