An agile software-defined virtual storage appliance that costs nothing to
try
Dell EMC UnityVSA™ (Virtual Storage Appliance) enables all the enterprise capabilities of
the Dell EMC Unity XT storage arrays to be easily deployed on a VMware ESXi server,
enabling customers to implement an affordable high availblity software-defined storage
solution on-prem. Best of all, you can get a no cost Community Edition license for up to 4TB
of capacity – to use in Test/Dev environments.

UnityVSA software-defined storage brings several benefits to your organization including

low acquisition cost when considering hardware consolidation, multi-tenant storage
instances, remote/branch office storage deployment and easier to build/maintain/destroy
environment for staging and testing.

With much of the same all-inclusive software as the physical arrays, UnityVSA allows you to:
• Provide advanced file, block and vVOL data services for your customers
• Set up for high availability NAS or SAN on-prem in just a few minutes
• Allow VMware admins to manage storage from vCenter™
• Protect data locally with unified point-in-time snapshots
• Replicate data remotely to other instances of UnityVSA or to Unity XT storage
arrays
• Optimize performance, efficiency, and simplify storage management with
automated tiering through Fully Automated Storage Tiering Virtual Pools (FAST
VP)
UnityVSA software-defined • Administrate the virtual appliance using the same HTML-5 based Unisphere as with
storage on VMware Unity XT storage arrays.
• Connect UnityVSA with modern dev/ops, storage and workflow automation and
much more using our no cost plug-in technology:
o Container Storage Interface (CSI) plug-in
o VMware vRealize Operations (vRO) plug-in
o Ansible plug-in
o Puppet plug-n

Licensing
The UnityVSA software package contains the standard integrated management and
monitoring of all aspects of UnityVSA including the Operating Environment, NAS and SAN
protocols, Unisphere management, FAST VP Auto-Tiering, thin provisioning and unified
snapshots/replication for NAS and SAN. Also included is the Unity XT 64-bit file system with
file system shrink functionality for space reclamation, VMDK cloning, metrosync manager
and quotas.
Professional Edition – available as a yearly license subscription
o 350TB: 2C vCPU, 12GB Memory, Dual-Node
o 350TB: 12C vCPU, 96GB Memory, Dual-Node
o 50TB: 2C, vCPU, 12GB Memory, Dual-Node
o 50TB: 2C vCPU, 12GB Memory, Single-Node
Subscription licensing is a seamless upgrade from a low capacity point to a higher
capacity point and includes:
o Software and systems related support
o Dell Enhanced Services
o Dell Secure Remote Support (SRS)
