Human Resource Management

Course Description
This course provides knowledge to students about how the staffing function is carried out, as one
of the five basic functions in the management process consisting of planning, organizing,
staffing, directing, and controlling.
Human resource management is a staffing function in the management process, so that its
activities are obtaining workforce, maintaining and guaranteeing high productivity of members
of the organization, through various policies in HR practice.
In this course, we will learn how all HRM practices are carried out, starting from recruitment,
training, conducting performance appraisal, giving compensation, and deciding work
termination.

Purpose

This course is aimed at:


1. Understanding the external factors that influence HRM policies and practices
2. Mastering the concepts to carry out HRM practices, which consist of:
a) preparation, consisting of job analysis, human resource planning, HR information system,
recruitment and selection,
b) development and evaluation activities, consisting of orientation, placement and
termination of work, training and development, career development, and performance
appraisal,
c) compensation and protection activities, which consist of remuneration, payroll and
benefits,
d) building a conducive work environment.

Lecturing Method
Lecturing will be conducted in combination of online method and group discussion
(presentation).

Performance Assessment
Students activity and participation will be assessed the whole semester, which consist of:
1. Mid Test 30%
2. Assignment, participation, & attendance 30%
3. Final Test 40%
