Lab Exercise No. 5 Mesh Analysis: Danica Marie Dumalagan, Kristoffer John Giganto, Jhury Kevin Lastre

This document describes a lab exercise on mesh analysis. The exercise involved using mesh analysis on a circuit diagram with two loops. Kirchhoff's Current Law (KCL) was used to write equations for the two mesh currents. Cramer's rule was then used to calculate the theoretical values of the mesh currents. The results were analyzed and conclusions were discussed.

I. INTRODUCTION

III. RESULTS AND ANALYSIS

II. PROCEDURE

1. For the first part of the experiment, the schematic

diagram in Figure 3 was used. Mesh analysis has
been observed to be applicable. E1, R1, R2, and E2
in the first loop, and E2, R2, and R3 in the second
loop, can be used to define two mesh currents.

2. Using KCL, the two loops were formulated to

equations. The left loop and right loop were
expressed in equation (2.1) and equation (2.2)
respectively.

11500i1 – 6800i2 = -5V Equation (2.1)

-6800i1 + 16800i2 = 15 Equation (2.2)

3. The theoretical values of the mesh currents i 1 and i2

were calculated using Cramer’s rule and recorded
using the equation above.
