BACKGROUND

This request is for a startup company Environment Blueprint Consulting (EBC)
14 August 2020
Expected Response that does data analytics for various companies in the industrial and property
16 August 2020 and buildings sector. EBC is new and will be based in the UAE to support

1. Environmental Baseline Data Assessment (noise, air, soil & groundwater)


and Reporting

2. Auditing, Monitoring & Compliance

The baseline data and reporting is usually submitting to the local authority for
approval and then the company is issued with a permit which they need to
comply to. The company needs to demonstrate compliance through auditing
and monitoring.

Traditionally, these services have been commissioned separately and the


data usually sits with the consultant in a hard drive. The submission of the
reports are done in hard copy.

I have developed this company to disrupt the way these environment


assessments are undertaken. Once engaged by the company to collect the
baseline data and deliver the reporting, I would like to input the data into a
Tableau dashboard where the client would have access to the dashboard.
Once the permit is received, the client has the baseline data and uses that to
add the regular monitoring and auditing data on top of it so as to see the
trends forming. Based on this compliance will be made easier for the client.

While I have the technical environmental expertise, I would like to hire


support with the data analytics. This document outlines the tasks &
deliverables which will form the role of the team that will consist of one data
analyst and one data scientist.

ROLES

A. Data Analyst Role


The data analyst role is in proper data collection and interpretation activities.
The analyst will ensure that collected data is relevant and exhaustive while
also interpreting the analytics results. The analyst will also require data
analysts to have visualization skills to convert alienating numbers into
tangible insights through graphics.

Preferred skills: R, Python, JavaScript, C/C++, SQL, Tableau

B. Data Scientist Role


This person will solves business tasks using machine learning and data
mining techniques. If this is too fuzzy, the role can be narrowed down to data
preparation and cleaning with further model training and evaluation.

Their job is often divided into two roles: machine learning engineer and data
journalist.

Your role will be to determine which model to use and what data should be
used for each model.

You will have advanced understanding in probability and statistics.

You will help make sense of data output by putting it in the right context.

You will also be tasked with articulating business problems and shaping
analytics results into compelling stories. This will be done with help from the
environment team.

Preferred skills: R, SAS, Python, Matlab, SQL, noSQL, Hive, Pig, Hadoop,
Spark, Scala, Julia, Java, Carto, D3, QGIS, Tableau

TASKS
The tasks that will be required, in general for the Data Analyst and Scientist is
outlined below. These will be on project basis and specific tasks discussed
prior to commencement. Each task will be set up as a job offer on Upwork.

A. Setting up EBC IT infrastructure requirements


Once hired, both the Data Analyst and Scientist will be involved in supporting
the EBC team in the outlining the IT requirements of the company in order to
meet their objectives.

This will include, data protection requirements, cloud storage requirements,


laptop type…etc.

B. Setting up Proposals and Projects


The Data Analyst and Scientist will both be involved in:

• Setting up the Tableau account and dashboard for each project

• Outlining the data requirements at the beginning of each project

• Supporting with the methodology for proposals that will be submitted to


clients

C. Other Tasks
Depending on the scope of the project, there may be other tasks required
which will be discussed prior to commencement.

Furthermore should the scope of EBC increase then other tasks may be
ordered accordingly.

TIMEFRAME
Once I have received the CVs I will shortlist potential candidates for interview
and if successful, respond with a final offer by 22 August.
