Scenario and the Tasks


------------------------------
Management plays an important role in the achievement of objectives of an
organization. Organizations operate in a constantly changing environment. Managers
help an organization by anticipating these changes and taking appropriate steps
(Mullins & Christy, 2016).
Assume that you have been appointed as a Management Intern in one of the
organizations listed below. The company expects you to prepare a report on
‘Management Practices’ of the organization.

Select one organization from the above and carry out a desk research to identify its
current management practices. Provide a comprehensive report complying (2500
words) with relevant theories/ concepts and related examples from selected
organization whenever it is applicable. Your report must cover the below tasks.

1. Identify different categories of managers in the organization. Explain why


organization needs different categories of managers when achieving organizational
objectives. (15 marks)
2. Looking at the historical development of management, explain how
management
theories have contributed in the management practices of the organization. (15
marks)
3. External business environment is so dynamic compared to the internal business
environment. This dynamism is mostly created by ever-changing broad forces what
cannot be controlled by an organization. These broad forces directly affect the
profit
intention and other goals and objectives of all the organizations regardless of the
size, nature or type (David, 2011). Discuss how these broad forces affect the
businesses in a positive or negative way with reference to the selected
organization.

4. Examine the different types of organizational plans and explain how the
organizational structure of the selected organization helps achievement of these
plans with examples. (15 marks)
5. Leadership is the main weapon of the organization. Through better leadership
style;
managers can achieve their workers’ motivation as well as their organizational
goals
and productivity (Northouse, 2016).
Explain the leadership styles exhibit in the selected organization and discuss how
leadership styles have influenced the employee motivation to achieve
organizational objectives. (15 marks)
6. Controlling ensures that there is effective and efficient utilization of
organisational
resources so as to achieve the planned goals (Hadria, et al., 2020). Having
understood about the organisation, examine the importance of controlling
function
and types of controls in the selected organisation. (10 marks)
7. A Proper report by following the guidelines. (10 marks)

Demonstrate strong theoretical knowledge and analytical skills. Provide a good level
of detail and depth to discussion. Use at least 20 academically valid references to
validate your answer and higher marks.

Follow university guidelines for report writing and referencing. Provide correct in-
text and end-text references according to Harvard method.
Use grammatically correct language.
Utilise the word count in proportion to marks allocated for each question.
Take into account the instruction verb (e.g. explain, describe etc.) in question when
structuring answers.
