Laboratory Exercise
Data Collection
Objective:

At the end of the exercise, the student should be able to:

 Use the basic concepts of statistics in collecting data.

Procedure:

1. Find a topic or choose one of the following topics to be investigated:


a. What are students’ opinions or expectations about the education they are receiving at our
school?
b. What are the pros and cons of online shopping?
c. Should there be a dress code to prevent students from wearing revealing clothes?
d. Online communication: does it make the world bigger or smaller?
2. Make a title and a short introduction about the topic.
3. Decide on who will be the respondents and how you will gather information. (you can use social
media to communicate with your respondents)
4. Formulate questions to be asked, variables, or data to be considered from the respondents.
5. Gather information and make sure that you listed all the responses or information you
collected.
6. Once you’ve done gathering information, type or write, and consolidate all the information you have.
