01 Activity 1 - ARG (Dagdag)

The document provides instructions for answering 3 questions about calculating wavelength, period, and wavelength given different parameters of waveforms. Specifically, it asks the student to: 1) Calculate the wavelength of a waveform with a frequency of 123,456 cps. 2) Calculate the period of a waveform with a wavelength of 66 mm. 3) Calculate the wavelength of a waveform given its period is 17μs.

Instructions
Answer the following on a clean sheet of paper. Take a photo of your answer sheet then upload
here. (3 items x 15 points)
1. What is the wavelength of a waveform with a frequency of 123,456 cps?

The formula:

c= speed of wave (assume the speed of light) = 3.10⁸ m/s

f= frequency = cps=Hz

λ=wavelength

a waveform with a frequency of 123,456 cps, so:

f=123,456 cps =123,456 Hz

λ = 2430.016m

2. Calculate the period of a waveform that has a 66 mm.

f = c / λ = wave speed c (m/s) / wavelength λ (m). The formula for time is: T (period) = 1 / f
(frequency). λ = c / f = wave speed c (m/s) / frequency f (Hz). The unit hertz (Hz) was once
called cps = cycles per second.

3. Calculate the wavelength of a waveform given the period of 17μs.

Wavelength is an important parameter of waves and is the distance between two like points
on the wave. The wavelength is calculated from the wave speed and frequency by λ = wave
speed/frequency, or λ = v / f. A peak is the highest point of a wave, while the valley is the
lowest point of a wave.
