Course Syllabus - : Chem 1

This course covers basic concepts of inorganic and organic chemistry over 18 weeks. Students will learn about atomic structure, chemical bonding, intermolecular forces, acids and bases, and the structures, properties, and reactions of major organic compound classes including alkanes, alkenes, aromatics, alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, amines and alkaloids. The goal is for students to apply organic chemistry knowledge to real situations and understand connections between chemistry, health, and disease treatment. Students will be evaluated through lectures, labs, quizzes and exams.
