“Paragraph Writing’s assignment”

A. What is Sentence?

Sentence is the largest unit of any language. In English, it begins with a capital letter and
ends with a full-stop, or a question mark, or an exclamation mark.
The sentence is generally defined as a word or a group of words that expresses a thorough idea
by giving a statement/order, or asking a question, or exclaiming.

B. Parts of a Sentence

Every complete sentence contains two parts: a subject and a predicate.

1) Subject
The subject of a complete is who or what the sentence about. Subject can also
defined as the noun or pronoun used in the sentence about which something is being told
in the sentence.
Example;
William is my little brother.
Elephant is mammal.
I am a girl.

2) Predicate
A predicate is the part of sentence that tells about the subject. It contains the verb
that tells about the subject.
Example:
The man heard a loud noise.
Mike and George went bowling.
The sun shining brightly.

The term “punctuation” has originated from the Medieval Latin word “pūnctuātiōn,” which
means markings or signs. The purpose of punctuation is to clarify the meanings of texts by
linking or separating words, phrases, or clauses. There are 14 punctuation marks that are used
in the English language. They are:
1) Period (.)
2) Comma (,)
3) Question mark (?)
4) Exclamation point (!)
5) Colon ( : )
6) Semicolon ( ; )
7) Dash (-)
