Name of the Enterprise

The product to be proposed is a Katsa Bag, where in it is a personalized

bag made of a fabric cloth called Katsa. It may be small, medium, and large bag

and can be used for different purposes.

Location

The proponents decided to build up the business in the Public Market of

Tanay Rizal beside Maria Gracia pawnshop with approximately 50 square

meters. Tanay was founded as a separate pueblo (town) in 1606 under the name

"Monte de Tan-ay". In 1620, administration was moved to San Antonio (now

called Inalsan or Pantay) and Tandang Kutyo. In 1638, the town was burned

during an uprising of Chinese living in the area, and the town was rebuilt in 1640

at the present day location. The municipality of Tanay is a first

class municipality in the province of Rizal, Philippines, and according to the year

2015 census it has a population of 117,830 people. The proponents chose this

location because the proponents can see that there are many people whose

about to go to public markets because the people’s mind set is it’s cheaper and

affordable to that place which is the same like the proposed product and can also
3

be a great opportunity for the product to be marketable because the people can

use it as a substitute to their plastic carry bags.

Brief Description of the Product

The product is a bag that is made out of a Katsa cloth which is used as a

sack of flour. The procedure of creating the product are the following:

First, the fabric will be cut according to what size and kind of the bag is, second

is it will then be sewn, and lastly is sew or print the cloths’ design.

The researchers conduct this feasibility study to create a recycled bag

that is made of Katsa cloth and used as a substitute to carry plastic bags.

To encourage the people to ban or lessen the use of plastic bags, knowing

that there are already municipalities who have ordinance for pertaining to the use

of plastic bags.

The person who will benefit the product is the Municipality in the chosen

location because it will be able to support the plastic bag ban project and also the

customers because it will be able to help them lessen the consumption of plastic

bags and offer them a much more good and high quality garments that they can

use as a substitute in plastic bags.

4

Project/Product Summary

Market Feasibility

The uniqueness of the product is that it is made out of a Katsa cloth that is

barely being used as a cloth for a bag and there is no plastic material that will be

include in the bag. It is much stronger than the typical plastic carry bag that’s why

we can lessen the sudden cut off of the bag handles whenever we are carrying

something heavy. The bag may come in different forms and designs that our

target market may like.

The target market of our product is the population of Tanay, Rizal because

the stall of the business will be at the public market and the potential buyers is

also at Tanay.

The business will use different forms of marketing strategies such as

joining trade fair especially at the annual Tanay HANE Festival for the product to

gain more exposure in the public which will help increasing its sales. The

proponent will also use online selling style that they may visit our stall for other

designs or for others and customize designs to get the interest of people to buy

the product from the other places.

The business will use cost-plus pricing method for the product, when the

selling price are computed based on its actual cost plus the desired mark-up

which is 80%
5

Technical Feasibility

The Katsa Bag will be located in the Public Market of Tanay Rizal wherein

the proponent is about to rent a 50 square meters space beside Maria Gracia

pawnshop. That place will be also the main stall and outlet of the business.

The machinery that the product will use is al sewing machine which is

suitable for bag making, wherein we are not going to use any electricity. The

sewing machine price is ranging from ₱30,000.00

The product katsa bag will undergo a four process of production such as

washing, drying, sewing and designing for a great quality type of bag and the

good distribution.

The operating hours of the business will be from eight o’clock in the

morning up to five o’clock in the afternoon.

The business will produce 3,000 pieces of Katsa bag in the first year or

may change depends on the demand and an average of 250 Katsa bag monthly

in the first year of operations. This meets the demands of Katsa bag in the first

business cost associating all the operations and activities of Katsa bag. The

estimated capital will be ₱500,000.00 to be used in the operation and registration

of the business and other pre-organizational costs. In this project form the

partners will contribute equal amount of capital of ₱62,500.00 and will get equal

rights in the business. The distribution of profits and losses are distributed equal

and fair.

The business owners will be renting a 50 square meters stall worth

₱5,000.00 rent monthly

Socio-Economic Impact

The business will be able to support the plastic bag ban project

and also the customers because it will be able to help them lessen the

consumption of plastic bags and offer them a much more good and high quality

CHAPTER 2

PROJECT BACKGROUND AND HISTORY

Project Background

The business name is Katsa Bag, to be situated in Tanay Public Market.

The business came from the idea of the proponents/owners.

The reason behind this study is the fact that this kind of business can be in

trend since we all know that Filipinos are trendy even in bags and it’s useful and

bags are part of peoples’ style. But the most important behind this study is that

the proponents want to make a product that can be a substitute in plastic carry

bags as well as being stylish.

Based on what the proponents can see and from the observation of the

people who goes and buy in the public market of Tanay are very fund of using

plastics specially when the food they bought are frozen.

Project History

A Katsa or flour sack or flour bag is a cloth sack, usually made of cheap

cotton, used to store flour. Flour sacks are often printed with simple designs and

trademarks to indicate the millers and companies making or selling the flour.

Bag (also known regionally as a sack) is a common tool in the form of a

non-rigid container. The use of bags predates recorded history, with the earliest

bags being no more than lengths of animal skin, cotton, or woven plant fibers,
9

folded up at the edges and secured in that shape with strings of the same

material.

Despite their simplicity, bags have been fundamental for the development

of human civilization, as they allow people to easily collect loose materials such

as berries or food grains, and to transport more items than could readily be

carried in the hands.

Cheap disposable paper bags and plastic shopping bags are very

common in the retail trade as a convenience for shoppers, and are often supplied

by the shop for free or for a small fee. Customers may also take their own

shopping bags to use in shops. Although, paper had been used for purposes of

wrapping and padding in ancient China since the 2nd century BC, the first use of

paper bags (for preserving the flavor of tea) in China came during the later Tang

Dynasty.

Project Promoter/Originator

promoters. It started with the curiosity on how this kind of business will create a

big opportunity to those people who engage in this kind of industry and how we

can be able to help our natural surroundings. Promoters saw the potential market
10

wherein they will be able to have the opportunity to expose and market the

product at the same time helping the environment.

Type of Business Organization

The business is a partnership composed of number of capitalist partners,

who will equally contribute to compensate ₱500,000.00 as the initial capital. The

however the duties and responsibilities will be divided into separate functions.
