Technology is revealed as a mode of revealing new discoveries through development over time. It has significantly impacted daily life through convenience but also causes distraction, stress, and isolation. Since technology impacts society greatly, it should be questioned regarding ethical dilemmas, risks, and environmental harm. Its rapid change also challenges traditional ideas of progress based on growth and consumption.

Chapter 4

1. How is technology a mode of revealing?

- Technology is a never ending uncovering of discoveries that’s why Heidegger said that
technology is “a way of revealing”. Technology is the way of revealing that characterizes
our time and it was said that it means bringing about a perfect world. Technology
resulted in significant gains in many functions in our lives that allows us to live an easy
life. The importance of technology is depending on what kind of presence it holds,
connections to our lives and on what way technology presents itself or operates. From
what I understood, technology is a mode of revealing not only because technology is
always something we make or develop, but it is a form or idea, meaning the way we
perceive or think or interact with, is the “emerges out of concealment into
unconcealment”, so those ideas that we had will reveal a new discovery that can be
develop into something new and essential.

2. In your daily experience of technology, what else is revealed to you aside from its function?

- In my daily experience of technology aside from its function it is also revealed to me how
fast and how technology is developing more and more each day. There is no denying that
in the future technology will continue to revolutionize our lives. Technological
development has a huge significant impact on our daily lives, economy, society and
culture, its development and people’s adaptation in this new technology has a
dramatically accelerating pace. Rapid change in technology poses many challenges in our
lives and also technological advances are now causing people to be distracted, overly
stressed and increasingly isolated that transform the attention of the people to a
concerning and alarming state.

3. Why should technology be questioned?

- Since technology has a significant impact in our lives there are many questions that are
rising in society. There are some technological conflicts that are concerning and alarming
that's why technology is being questioned. In many aspects this advancement has
positive benefits but it is not avoidable that there are ethical dilemmas, potential
problems/risk and harm that technology may pose to animals, people and also the
environment.
