English is a vital key in communication since it’s become the main language
all around the world. With mastering English, people would be able to
communicate easily with fellow global citizens, get more job oppurtunities, get
more acces to the world of entertainment, get more access to the internet, and
much more. Because of its advantages, all high school students should learn
English. This essay will discuss the reasons for high school students to learn
English as well as the advantages of learning English.

Nowadays, English is very important in our daily lives. With 2 billion

speakers worldwide, English is the largest language by the number of speakers. It
is also the third largest language by the number of native speakers. As the most

us all understand each other. That can bring unity to the world, being connected by
the English language.

With mastering English, we would have a lot of advantages like being able
to connect or socialize with many people, being able to receive more job
oppurtinities since most jobs need the mastery of the English language (research by
Cambridge English found that English is important for over 95% of employers,
even in many countries where English is not an official language), the most
popular entertainment in the world is in English, it’s the most useful language for
travelling (as a common second language, you can often speak with people in
English to learn about your surroundings and cultures), it’s a language that’s
dominated the online world (over half of the most visited web pages in the world
are in English, making it the dominant language online. With over 1 billion internet
users typing in English, you’ll be able to access many types of resources and
learning platforms to strengthen your skills), and so many more. This therefore
shows that English would be a necessary language to master when it comes to our
daily lives.

Since most top schools around the world (including Harvard, MIT,
Cambridge, Stanford, Oxford, etc) are English-speaking schools, English would be
a necessary language to master to access high-quality education. It goes without
saying that if you are able to study at one of these institutions, you’ll start your
career with an illustrious name on your CV – and the benefits of that speak for
themselves. If you have your sights set on a top university, the effort you put in to

study English as early as possible in your school years will be rewarded when it
comes to the choice of universities to which you can apply.

English is also the language of science. If you learn English, you won’t just
have access to a greater proportion of the vast amount of knowledge available on
the web; you’ll be able to educate yourself still further by being able to read
scientific books and papers. English is, of course, essential if you intend to pursue
a scientific career. Within the Science Citation Index, compiled by the Institute for
Scientific Information, an estimated 95% of articles are written in English despite
only around half being from English-speaking countries. That concludes the reason
why English would be a necessary element in our education.

Other than the advantages written before, learning English has other benefits
that not a lot of people realize. An example of that would be it’s straightforward
but complicated grammar rule. By learning the English language, we would be
faced with unexpected pronunciations, odd rules and infuriating exceptions to
rules, it takes dedication and perseverance to reach a good level of fluency. It
would also teach us to think creatively, critically, and abstractly. Other than that, it
would prepare people to do things like vote, sign contracts, and raise children.

In conclusion, the evidence presented suggest that learning English would be

a vital element in our lives, for numerous reasons. Learning English would benefit
all of us in different ways. So, high school students should take English seriously.
Not just high school students but everyone should learn English, to unite the
people of the world even more.
