I. MULTIPLE CHOICE. Write Only The Letter of The Best Answer On The Space Provided Before Each Number. (3

This quiz covers linear inequalities and linear programming. It contains multiple choice questions testing the concepts of linear inequalities, solutions to systems of linear inequalities, and properties of linear programming problems. It also contains true/false questions about solutions to systems of linear equations and inequalities. Finally, it asks students to formulate a linear programming model and solve a problem graphically to maximize profit under production constraints.

3. Which of the following statement is true about 2𝑥 − 5𝑦  30?
A. The point (100, 10) is a solution to 2𝑥 − 5𝑦  30.
B. Its graph consists only of the half plane to the left of 2x – 5y = 30.
C. The solution includes all the points on the line 2x – 5y = 30.
D. The point (0, - 10) is a solution to 2𝑥 − 5𝑦  30.
4. Which of the following is a solution to the system 𝑥 − 𝑦  2 and 𝑥 + 𝑦 < 10?
I. (0, 10) II. (6, 4) III. (0, −2) IV. (1, 4)
A. I and II B. III and IV
C. I and III D. II and IV
5. In linear programming problem formulation, the objective function and constraints are expressed in
terms of the
A. non-negativity constraints B. decision variables
C. slack variables D. surplus variables
6. All linear programming problems have the following properties except
A. maximization or minimization of some quantity.
B. restrictions or constraints that limit the degree to which the objective can be pursued.
C. non-negativity constraint.
D. none of the above.

II. Modified True or False. On the space provided before each number, write True if the statement is true and if
false, change the italicized word or phrase to make the statement correct. (2 points each)
1. The point of intersection of 3𝑥– 𝑦 = 7 and 2𝑥 + 3𝑦 = 12 is (2,3).
2. (1,1) is a solution of 2𝑥 + 3𝑦 − 6 ≤ 0.

3. The half plane represented by 4𝑥 + 5𝑦 < 20 is above the line 4𝑥 + 5𝑦 = 20.

Consider 2𝑥 + 3𝑦 = 7 and 7𝑥– 2𝑦 = 12

4. The value of y is 1.

5. The value of x is 4.

III. Formulate the linear programming model for the given problem. (10 points)
1) Kal-Q Company makes three types of calculators: ordinary, scientific and graphing. Each ordinary
calculator has one plastic case, containing 7 microcircuits and requires 4 working hours. Each
scientific calculator has one plastic case, containing 12 microcircuits and requires 6 working hours.
Each graphing calculator has one plastic case, containing 25 microcircuits and requires 9 working
hours. If the company has at least 50 plastic cases, exactly 250 microcircuits and at most 230
working hours, how many of each model must be produced to maximize the profit if each ordinary
calculator gives a profit of ₱80, scientific calculator, a profit of ₱95 and graphing calculator, a profit
of ₱120.
IV. Solve the linear programming problem graphically. (12 points)

2. Minimize: C = 10 x + 25 y
Subject to:

2 x + y  12
2 x + 9 y  36
2 x + 3 y  24
x, y  0
