 Exercise
One  of  the  best  ways  to  increase  your  imaginative  abilities  is  to  “recreate”  the
things  that  you  see  in  your  mind  with  your  eyes  closed.
A  great  entry-‐level  exercise  is  to  look  at  a  candle  and  then  close  your  eyes.  The
“afterburn”  gives  you  a  ready  made  image  that  you  can  mentally  trace  over.
Next,  practice  with  an  apple,  or  the  corner  of  a  table.  Really  focus  on  making  the
image  bright  and  vibrant.
You  can  also  focus  on  individual  colors.  Produce  red  in  your  mind,  for  example.  It
could  be  a  red  stripe  or  a  red  wall.  Then  move  to  blue,  green,  black,  yellow,  etc.
Even  if  you  feel  that  you  cannot  really  “see”  these  colors  in  your  mind,  practice
deepening  your  sense  for  “yellowness,”  for  example.
When  you’re  done,  proceed  to  the  next  video  and  the  next  exercise.
As  always,  please  let  me  know  if  you  have  any  questions  by  either  emailing  me  at
[email protected]  or  by  using  the  discussion  area  in  this  classroom.
