3. Words with Morphophonemic Changes


Give at least 2 examples of the words that undergo morphophonemic change (not
mentioned above). Then use them in a sentence.
a. Stress Shift to the Right
*kadto +an =kadtuan- Kadtuan ko siya sa ila balay.
*lakad +on =lakadon- lakadon niya kuno ang kudal.
b. Stress Shift to the left
*gapang +-on =gapangon- gapangon ka gani karun sang man-og.
*kuga +on =kugaon- kugaon koni siya karu kung indi pa siya maghipos.
c. Vowel loss
*sakit+-a=saktan- saktan mo gani siya para maghibi
*kagat+-on=kadton- kadton ko ni ang burger or karun nalang?
d. Metathesis
*tuon + -an= tun-an -tun-an ko ni ang lesson subong ni ma’am.
*tanom + -an = tamnan – tamnan ko bala bulak ang pot.
e. Assimilation
*mang- + himos =manghimos -manghimos nagid ko bwas sang kwarto ko.
*mang- +himo =manghimo- manghimo kuno necklace si manang.
f. Consonant Change

*hawid + -an= hawiran – Hawiran ko bayo mo para indi ka maka dalagan.

*sayod + na- -an= nasayran- nasayran ko na kung paano ubrahon ang activity
natun.
