Coding Theory

Coding theory deals with designing error-correcting codes to reliably transmit information over noisy channels. The main goals are to detect errors and explain how messages are transferred and why other messages may occur. It studies communication between a sender and receiver. The sender sends a message through a channel where noise can cause errors, preventing the receiver from understanding. Source encoding changes the message format for transmission, while channel encoding detects and corrects errors using redundancy. Morse code is an example of source encoding that represents characters with signal durations. Channel coding re-encodes messages after source coding to introduce redundancy for error detection or correction.

1. What is coding theory? What are its main goals?

 - Coding theory deals with the design of error-correcting codes for the reliable
transmission of information across noisy channels. The main goal of coding
theory is to detect error and to further explain how was the message transfer and
why does other message .
2. Explain the problem of coding theory in your words.
 The study of the coding theory is about communication between 2 people. For example,
the sender and the receiver the 2 main source of the theory, while communicating the
sender send its message thru the channel the message might encounter a noise that may
result some errors or misunderstanding for the receiver to fail to understand the message.
The coding theory now will analyze the message
3. What is the difference between source encoding and channel coding?
 Source encoding, involves changing the message source, such as a data terminal
or the human voice, to a suitable code for transmission through the channel
 Channel coding, is also known as forward error control coding, it is a process of
detecting errors and correcting errors from any digital communication systems.

telecommunication to encode characters from 2 signal durations that called dash and dashes.
4. What is the purpose of channel coding?

o.
 Encode the message again after the source coding while introducing some form of

redundancy so that errors can be detected or even corrected(code word).
