WORD MAP. A word map is a visual organizer that promotes vocabulary

development. Think of vocabulary words that can be connected to the word given

VISION, MISSION, GOALS

& OBJECTIVES
below, write as much as you can and give your concepts and insights about these
words. You may use separate sheet if you want.

Organize
Guide

In every organization, there should be a vision, mission, goal, and objectives. It is a plan
of where and what you want your organization to reach. These are plans that we want to
reach and fulfill for a good future of the institution. It aims to provide a platform for the
organization. It also shows how organized on the ways on how you will achieve on what
you visioned. This serves as reminder on what do we really want to happen; if we want
to make progress, if we want the organization we belong to be good, or if we want peace
and harmony, not only within the institution if not as well as dealing with the whole
community.

2. Presentation Phase:
2.2 ANALYSIS (Communication)

Explain the relevance of the words you connected in the Pre Assessment
Activity.
The relevance of the words I connected with the Vision, Mission, Goals, and
Objectives reminds us to simply focus on what we want to achieve and stay on track so
that everything will be organized and in order. This shows how good are people in the
management. We will see what kind of principles and values the administrators or
leaders of the organization or institution have. how tough, dedicated, competitive and
competent they are. It also shows the effectiveness on how good they are in
implementing the rules and regulations and how the people inside the institution or
organization abides. As I previously said, it also builds peace and harmony between
individuals.

Answer the following questions.

What are the steps and processes in writing an effective Vision, Mission Goals
and Objective Statements?

(You may listen to a video clip on How to Write a Great Mission Statement. This
can be given to you or you may look for a video clip in the youtube. After listening,
answer the following questions.)

First and foremost, have a brainstorming session that answers your verbal
picture of your business’ mission. Set some important questions. Then consider what
guided responses to the questions you considered. Next is organize your thoughts,
polish, and mold them into your final mission statement. Set a final decision date and set
aside a time to work on your statement. Utilize the resources around you by bouncing
your ideas of friends, family, and other professionals for extra perspective. Be sure to
refine the language of your mission statement because every word counts. The
statement should create a dynamic visual image and inspire action by using colorful
verbs and adjectives to spice it up. Once your Mission statement is complete start
spreading the word to show where you are going and why.

Guide Questions.

A. What is a Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives?

The vision provides a destination for the organization. Next is a statement of
mission. This is a guiding light of how to get to the destination. These are
critical statements for the organization and the individuals who run the
organization. The vision and mission guide the everyday activities of every
person involved in the business. Statements of vision and mission should be
simple, concise, and easy to remember. Use just enough words to capture
the essence. The statements need to capture the very essence of what your
organization or business will achieve and how it will be achieved. A goal is a
general statement of what you want to achieve. More specifically, a goal is a
milestone in the process of implementing a strategy. An objective turns a
goal’s general statement of what is to be accomplished into a specific,
quantifiable, time-sensitive statement of what is going to be achieved and
when it will be achieved. Remember, the vision is what you want to
accomplish. Mission is a general statement of how you will achieve your
vision. Strategies are a series of ways of using the mission to achieve the
vision. Goals are statements of what needs to be accomplished to implement
the strategy. Objectives are specific actions and timelines for achieving the
goal. Action plans are specific actions that need to be taken for reaching the
milestones within the timeline of the objectives.
B. What are the steps in making VMGOs?
1. Gather Board Level Leadership
If you don’t have a formal board, pull together an advisory team.
Writing a vision, mission, and values statement should be an exercise that is
done at the board level – with some senior-level employees.

This can be done in a retreat setting such as a conference room of a hotel or

the back room of a restaurant. The goal is to create an environment that is
insulated from distractions and interruptions.

2. Identify an Objective Facilitator

If the organization has strong leadership, there may be someone at the board
level who can facilitate the visioning session.

Whether the facilitator is a member of the staff or is contracted through a third

party, the facilitators’ role is to help drive the process without influencing the
content.

An experienced facilitator will know how to write a mission, vision and values
statement.

3. Dream As a Group
A visioning session is a time for dreaming.

Work with flip charts to get the creative juices going and provide colorful
visuals that help spark thoughts and ideas.

4. Share Ideas
After 30 minutes, ask all groups to share the thoughts and ideas they came
up with.

Use the larger group to pick the best thoughts and ideas from each of the
smaller groups.
Write the collective thoughts and words on a new flip-chart.
Ask all participants to add, subtract, and formalize the sentence structure of
the statement.

5. Examine the Statement

After the group drafts a couple of sentences, read them out loud to the entire
group again.

Next, test the sentences to see if the entire group agrees that the statement
is reflective of the organization and describes an ideal future state.

Make sure the statement is descriptive enough and is measurable to

determine progress toward the vision.
6. Clarify the Mission
After the vision statement is written, go through a similar exercise to define
the organization’s mission.

Remember a mission statement describes “why” the organization exists.

Vision and mission statements should be used for decision making so it

should reflect the importance of what the business is trying to accomplish.

Break into small groups again and spend another 20-30 minutes
brainstorming words that describe why the organization exists.

Once all the groups have their ideas down, ask them to present to all of the
other groups.

Using a flip chart, combine all of the ideas and as a group, try to create a
short phrase that is descriptive of why the organization exists.

The phrase will get molded by the group and after it is in a final state, read it
out loud one last time, so the entire group agrees that it is reflective of why
the organization exists.

7. Define Organizational Values

Once a vision and mission statement is drafted, break into groups once again
and allow another 20 minutes or so to come up with a list of values.

These will become the shared values that the organization operates by.

As the groups come up with their lists, ask them again to present their ideas
to the larger group and then combine and agree to one list.

The final list should ideally be 5-10 words and should be easy for people to
simply memorize.

C. Enumerate the factors that make an effective preparation of a mission

statement and choose two and expound.
First is the tone. A process of deliberate word selection is involved in
formulating the correct tone. A great mission statement may not be taken
seriously if the language is overly flowery and complicated. Use language
that is appropriate for the target audience and reflects the organization's
culture.
Second is the endurance. A mission statement should be able to survive the
test of time and, in the end, have meaning for the organization's long-term
goals. A mission statement, on the other hand, should be updated to reflect
changes in your not-for-profit organization's environment. It's possible that a
statement made years ago is no longer relevant.
D. Why is it important for an organization / institution to have a vision, mission,
goals, and objectives?
The school's vision, mission, and core values are representations of what the
institution may contribute to society and individual growth. It define the
organization's goal and provide employees a sense of belonging and identity.
This encourages them to put in more effort to succeed. It also establishes the
organization's direction, whereas the vision statement establishes the goal
that will be achieved by following that course. In addition, aid in the right
alignment of an organization's resources in order to achieve a successful
future. It provides the organization with a clear and effective guide for making
decisions, while the vision statement ensures that all the decision made are
properly aligned with what the organization hopes to achieve. Last but not the
least, it provide a perspective for bringing everyone into alignment with the
organization, ensuring that everyone is working toward the same goal. This
improves the organization's efficiency and productivity.

2.2 ABSTRACTION (Critical Thinking)

mandate and responsibilities stated in Republic Act No. 9155 and do our duty as Filipinos.
“…who passionately love their country…”
We want to develop learners who are true citizens and patriots, who have a strong desire to
serve their country and work for its betterment.
AS DEPED, HOW DO WE PROMOTE PASSIONATE LOVE OF COUNTRY?

“...and whose values and competencies…”

We need to do two things: inculcate the values deemed necessary and desirable and train
students to make sure they have the necessary competencies.

“…enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the
nation…”
Because as a learner-centered institution we want them to know how to improve themselves
and realize their dreams, while keeping in mind the state of their country and the welfare of their
people. In turn, Filipinos realize their potential, not for selfish gain, but to contribute to building a
nation every Filipino deserves.

Activity 3: In a separate sheet of paper, answer the following questions:

After a thorough concept mapping, brainstorming, discussion on the DepEd’s

Vision, Mission, Core Values and Objectives, I am sure you can finally answer the
following questions;

A. How can we provide our learners a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and

motivating environment?
A child-friendly school ensures every child an environment that is physically
safe, emotionally secure, and psychological enabling. It seeks to provide a
healthy, hygienic, safe, and a happy environment for children to learn. It
promotes classroom activities and behavior that is gender sensitive and
results in effective learning. It also positively incorporates the involvement of
children, families, and communities in their children’s schooling.
B. How do our teachers ensure the development of each unique learner?
Teachers can help learners learn by making the educational process easy.
This does not imply that the curriculum should be diluted or that standards
should be lowered. Facilitating learning, on the other hand, entails
encouraging pupils to think critically and to comprehend how the learning
process works. Teachers must provide different teaching techniques and
strategies in accommodating and attending all his/her students’ different
needs.
C. Identify some policies, systems, processes, and behaviors that will ensure an
enabling and supportive environment that will allow effective learning to
happen.
A good classroom management system recognizes the close relationship
between positive behavior and effective instruction. Providing students with
access to an engaging and appropriate curriculum; and using innovative,
motivating, differentiated teaching practices and instructional
accommodations
Build a strong classroom community. The adult education classroom has the
potential to assist students in developing stronger and wider networks.
Students and faculty gain camaraderie, skills, and contacts outside of their
immediate areas through classrooms. Intentionally forming networks in the
classroom can help students and instructors form meaningful, supportive
interactions.
Build self-esteem and efficacy. Students' perseverance and belief in their
ability to achieve their objectives are essential variables in their continued
learning.
Use positive nonverbal communication. In the educational process, nonverbal
communications are an important part of communication. It is not only
important what you say to your students, but also how you say it. You'll be a
better receiver of students' messages and a better sender of signals that
reward learning if you're aware of nonverbal conduct.
Motivate students. Student motivation is critical to their success, and
whatever amount of drive your student brings to the classroom will be
modified, for better or worse, by what happens during the learning process.

Activity 4: APPLICATION

Very soon you will be absorbed by the Department of Education as new

teachers. Given the DepEd’s Vision, Mission and Core Values, and Objectives, examine
if all of its provisions on its Vision, Mission, Core Values and Objectives are still serving
its clientele? If yes, what are these? If no longer, what are these and how are you going
to fix it and what can you suggest to the Department of Education? Write your answers
in a short bond paper and submit online on the next meeting day before the official class
time.
The provisions of DedEd on its Vision, Mission, Core Values and
Objectives are still serving its clientele. It still promote the right to education of
each and every Filipino in all level. As the Article 14, Section 1 of our
Constitution provides that the “State shall protect and promote the right of all
citizens to quality education at all levels of education and shall take
appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all’, the DepEd sees
to it that they follow this order of the government. It oversees all public and
private elementary and secondary education institutions, including alternative
learning systems, and ensures the formation and maintenance of a
comprehensive, adequate, and integrated system of basic education that is
aligned with national development goals.
