Directions: Read carefully the two questions before you answer, write your answer not less than 500

26. Discuss the different between Western and Eastern Self of Thoughts? 15 pts.

Western and Eastern countries are abundant in Philosophy. They are known from their different
perspectives on life. They are have different thoughts and ideas about ourselves. We might think that
self is just a simple word but it is very complex and complicated when it comes to Philosophy.
Philosophy is defined as the study of the wisdom or knowledge about the general problems, facts, and
situations connected with human existence, values, reasons, and general reality.

Western and Eastern Philosophers have different perspectives and it greatly affects their life. We all
known that Western countries are so much devoted to Christianity and it is one of the reasons why their
philosophy is not the same as Eastern countries have. They consider God as a part or even center of
their life. God takes a big role in their life. Their Philosophy starts to their self up to how they interact
with others. Though it seems that Eastern Philosophers believe in God, the way how they think is also
rational, logical, and has scientic ideas or based on experiments and experiences.

Eastern Philosophy greatly affects the countries in Asia which I think is developed in China because the
prominent or famous Confucius is a Chinese Philosopher. Confucianism is not just the Philosophy in
Eastern or in Asia but also Buddhism, Taosim, and Hinduism. Their Philosophy starts in a group where
they can see and discover themselves. Unity is their main principle in Philosophy because a group is
important to them because it is where they can discover who they are.

Behind their differences, their Philosophies are the same because it mainly focused in virtue. They give
importance to themselves and to others.

27. Explain your understanding the self in terms of the following: Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology,
and Philosophy. How can achieve the following aspect in your personal life that can really happen to
you. Give each example to justify your answer. 15pts.

Anthropology deals with the study of human beings from all over the world. It describes and analyses
the evolutionary history related to them. It considers various attributes, like how people behave, how
they adapt to various environments, how people communicate and socialize with each other. In my
own, since Anthropology is very complex and it almost cover all the studies(may have some part of
other studies), I can achieve it(for example in Linguistic Anthropology), if I can encounter someone
speaking other language, I can easily tell where he came from specially when the language he use is
familiar to me. I can also figure out his culture behind the language he used because language can tell
it's culture. For example, in speaking Filipino, our culture can be mirror when we say our language.

Psychology is based on the science of mental processes and behaviors. The mind is a very complex entity
to understand and study. Thoughts, emotions, memories, and dreams are all in invisible forms, thus it is
very difficult to understand and analyze these abstract things. Human behavior is treated as the
evidence or as an indication to depict the functionality of the brain. Actually inn my experience, the
program that I want to enroll is BS Psychology but due to some problem, I didn't continue enrolling in it.
I just want to know more about myself and my behavior as well as others that's why I want to study
Psychology. Back to reality, good Psychology can be achieve by making our mind think deeply. In
thinking and deciding, we must understand the situation first, look for all sides and those who will be
affected by our decision. Balance the situation before deciding. If possible, think again.

Sociology deals with the social relationships and institutions of humans. However, sociology may belong
to any category like crime, religion, family, state, etc. It is an enriched field of study involved in
understanding the key social processes. In my own, it can be achieve by socializing or having good
relationship with others in our society. We may not consider the race, ethinicity, religion, state and
other differences between us because in social, it is not essential. Discrimination must be avoided in
socializing.

Philosophy is defined as the study of the wisdom or knowledge about the general problems, facts, and
situations connected with human existence, values, reasons, and general reality. Philosophy is a nature
to us, to seek for the wisdom and it can't be avoided. The seeking for wisdom and truth is all what we
want. I can achieve it by thinking logically and reasoning. I should not talk easily but if possible, it should
always be a fact or can be support by facts.
