two loops, each loop of cascade was christened a individual name. Such
two loops of cascade are recommend to rank together (certainly being
displayed separately is also acceptable) in control grouping panel for
operational convenience Such loop faceplates have some characters, for
example, if one inner loop or one outer loop is defined as cascade, button
status of corresponding inner loop or outer loop faceplate will also be
changed to cascade mode. If the inner loop is open, then either inner loop
or outer loop can not be set as cascade status; when inner loop is in auto
status or cascade status, control output of outer loop keeps the same as the
SV of inner loop.

Internal instrument for cascade loop is as shown in following figure:

5) Time synchronization:

Time synchronization server is necessary for a system to synchronize the

time, furthermore there can only be one time synchronization server of one
mode in a system. But if the process control networks in different systems
are separate with the operation stations in the same network, the system
can also configure two time synchronization servers called control time
synchronization server and operation time synchronization server. If there
are multiple time synchronization servers of the same mode in the network,
when the clients apply for time synchronization, flashing words would come
forth in the time synchronization configuration title bars of all the servers as
shown in Figure 1-57. Until the user modifies the configuration to have one
server only, otherwise all the servers would popup dialog box again soon,
and set the time that the fastest client applies for synchronization as the
synchronized time.

53
Real-time Monitoring Software

Figure 1-57 Time synchronization configuration interface

(1) Client

a) Request mode of broadcast

‰ Control network: synchronization request is sent by the dual

control network

‰ Process Information Network adopts the high-speed Ethernet

technology. It can be used for the time synchronization of the
operation node and the communication between the sever and
the clients in the structure of C/S mode. The synchronization
request is sent by the IP segment 128.128.5.xxx of process
information network. Xxx means it's discretional, but it should
be exclusive in the IP segment.

‰ Customized network: It's available to select one IP segment of

the computer's network adapters as the synchronization
network.

b) Peer to Peer request mode

54
Real-time Monitoring Software

‰ Sever IP: send synchronization request to the IP of the known

synchronization master PC.

Note1: DCS can be connected to GPS Clock source, and the time of all
the operation nodes can be synchronized by SNTP (simple network
time protocol).

Note2: the operation node can be configured as SNTP client under

Peer to peer request mode only.

c) synchronizing period

The synchronizing period is optional as 3S, 5S, 30S, 2min, 5min and auto.
Software would self-adjust the synchronizing period basing on the time
deviation. When auto mode is configured as the synchronizing period, if
there is more time deviation, the smaller synchronizing period would be
automatic adjusted to shorten the deviation. Vice versa, if the less time
deviation, the bigger synchronizing period would be self-adjusted. The
self-adjusted scope is the same as mentioned above.

d) synchronizing precision

The time synchronizing precision shows the range to self-adjust the

synchronizing period, if the time deviation is in the scope, the synchronizing
system would adjust the time, otherwise it wouldn't change the time; the
selectable synchronizing precision includes: no, 10ms, 50ms, 100ms,
200ms, 1s, 1min, 30min, 1hour, 1day, 15days,30days,
180days,365days,1825days. The default setting scope is 200ms to
1825days.

55
Real-time Monitoring Software

Figure 1-58 Client setting

(2) Sever

As synchronization sever offers the synchronizing criterion of time for the

clients and control stations.

Peer to peer responding mode of sever.

‰ Control network: respond the synchronizing request of clients

by the dual control network.

‰ Operation network: respond the synchronizing request of

clients by process information network.

‰ Customized network: respond the synchronizing request by the

56
Real-time Monitoring Software

selected IP segment of the computer's network adapters(offer

the monitoring port only, don't support the standard SNTP port)

When the sever is set as "control network", the clients which need to
synchronize the time with the sever must be set as "control network"

After the synchronizing sever is started up, the other clients can apply for
the time synchronization, the synchronizing precision would be less than 1S.
After the success of first synchronization, the synchronizing period of next
synchronization might be 5min, 2min, or the less period, lies on the
deviation of last synchronization.

Figure 1-59 Sever Setting

(3) Disable time synchronization

The node wouldn't synchronize the time, if the disable time synchronization

57

is selected.

Figure 1-60 Disable the time synchronizing function

Note1: If user doesn't set anyone of the Client, Sever and Disable
synchronizing function, the following interface would pop up.

Note2: The synchronizing request, response of Sever, alarms of

system time modification, multi-sever and alternation of Sever would
be recorded in the operation recorder of the system for the inquiry.

(4) time synchronizing setting of control station

It is used to separately configured the time synchronizing sever of control

station. Only one time synchronizing sever of control station can be set in a
solo control network. The system time of the current PC would be sent the
control stations by AdvanTrol-Pro software to synchronize the time of
control stations.

The function associate with the Clients and Sever function, it's suitable for
the structure which operation stations connected together and control
stations divided.
