SCOPE: The brick making machine is used for making bricks by compression method by a
lever.

DISCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE : The machine is a manually operated comprising of


the following :

*Supporting Frame
*Hopper
*Mould
*Handle lever
*Handle

 Supporting Frame (1): It is an angle welded type frame having 4 legs and a base
constructed from MS angle. Housing is mould made from MS sheet of size 215 X
102.5 mm. A pushing plate is provided to compress the material in the mould
housing. The machine is provided with a top cover on which a MS round is fixed to
apply load by using a lever.
 Load Apply Mechanism: A lever is provided which is connected to the compression
plate and applies load on the material to compress.
 Hopper: A hopper is provided to fill the raw material in it.
 Mould filling slide: Slide housing is fixed under the hopper which can be slided to
the open mouth of mould which let the raw material from hopper to the mould.

Material/substance required (not supplied with machine)
 Normal Sand
 Crusher sand
 Chips
 Water
 Cement
 Extra mixing fluids
 Cement block/brick

WORKING PROCEDURE

1) Fill the hopper with material.


2) The material from hopper pours into slider. Move the slider to the open facing of mould.
3) Once the material is filled in the mould close the top cover.
4) Apply the load by pressing the lever in such a way that the load applying stand comes on
the top of the MS round fixed at the top cover.
5) Lift the lever and push the material out of the mould.
6) Place the sample on some smooth surface to dry.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND MAINTENANCE :-


1) Fix the machine to a foundation slab properly leveled.
2) Equipment should be cleaned thoroughly before testing & after testing.
3) Use two workers when changing molds or performing maintenance.
4) Before machines are started, remove tools, bars and etc. from machines or mixer
5) Do not make adjustments on a machine while it is in motion.
