Computer Network Lab Assignment 3

This document contains the solutions to two questions about setting up computer networks in Packet Tracer. For question one, the student provides six steps to create a peer-to-peer connection between two computers: configure IP addresses on each computer, connect them with a cable, ping each computer, send packets between them using PDO, and verify successful transmission. Screenshots are included. For question two, the student outlines six steps to create a wireless LAN using an access point: select devices including PCs, a laptop, tablet, and smartphone, configure the access point with an SSID and password, add wireless capabilities to PCs and set their IP/wireless settings to match, repeat for other devices, test

Assignment 4 Computer Networking

Q1.Step by step perform the peer-to-peer connection between

two computers. Also attached the screenshot of the output.
Solution:

Step 1: -
Take 2 computers / Laptops in which we will show peer to peer connection from
End devices option.

Step 2: -
Connect both system with wire. We will take wire from Connection option.
I am taking “Copper Cross Wire” for this connection you can take any.
On connecting wire, we will select FastEthernet0 option on both system and wire
will be connected as show in the output window below

Step 3: -
Click on Laptop 0 > Desktop > IP Configuration > Select IPV4
address. I am setting 192.168.1.1 as IP address for Laptop 0.

Click on Laptop 1 > Desktop > IP Configuration > Select

IPV4 address. I am setting 192.168.1.2 as IP address for
Laptop 1.

Step 4: -

Our 2 systems are connected now with each other and we have configured both PC
with IP Address. Now We will ping both systems IP from each system 1 by 1
through Command Prompt.

Now we can see Laptop 0 is pining Laptop 1 and Laptop 1 is pinging Laptop 0
Step 5: -
Now with the help of PDO we will send packets from Laptop 0 to Laptop 1 and we
will run simulation.
Then we will send PDO from Laptop 1 to Laptop 0 and run simulation again.

Then we can see the packets are being sent from 1 system to another system.

Step 6: -
We can see Successful message from both systems. In this way both systems are
in the peer to peer connection where the transmission is working.

Output Screenshots are added below step by step:-

Q2. Write down the steps to create a wireless LAN in packet tracer using Access Point. Also
attached the screenshot of the output.

Solution:
Step 1: -
Devices we are going to use in this Wireless LAN 2 PC system
PC0 and PC1
1 Laptop, 1 Tablet, 1 Smartphone
1 Switch Device, 1 Router Device and Access Point.
Step 2: -

We will check Access Point first and configure Port 0 and Port 1.
Both ports should be ON.
In Port 1 , we will set SSID Name , and WEP as authentication method, then we will
set 10 digit password. In this case I am setting:-
SSID :- MCA
WEP Password:- 1234567890

Step 3: -
Now we will configure PC-0, for PC system there is no wireless driver by default
so we will turn off PC first and then Turn on Wireless Mode for PC-0
We will drag and drop that internet port from bottom of CPU and will add module
named “WMP300N” drag and drop it to that part of PC from where we has removed
earlier that cover.
After this we will turn on PC again and will configure it further.

Now Under Config Section We can See Wireless0 as option. We will set the
Same SSID and WEP password that we has set up on Step 2 above. We are
going to use same SSID and Password for all the devices on this Wireless Lan
Network.

Now Under Desktop Section We will use Static IP Configuration for this PC-0 and
every other Devices in this LAN Network.

For PC-O we will set IPv4 address :- 192.168.2.3

Default Gateway will be same for every Device which is :- 192.168.2.1
Step4:-
Now under Desktop Section > PC wireless. We will configure the wireless
properties for PC-O so that it will be connected to Access Point Wirelessly.

Go to Connect Option under this we will see our Wireless Network Name. In
my case MCA is the name of my Wireless network.
Select Wifi name and click on connect.

It will ask for password, Enter password in WEP KEY 1 field . In

my case my Wifi network password is :- 1234567890 Click on
connect. Done

Note:- In this way we will setup all our devices. We will configure every Device IP
address which is different for every Device, but Gateway Address will be same for
Every Device which is 192.168.2.1

We will follow STEP 3 for PC 1 and Laptop device.

We don’t need to set wireless configuration for Tablet and Smartphone they
already have Wireless Option turned on.

Step 4:-
will be followed same for PC1 , Laptop, Tablet and Smartphone. These
devices will have different IP address.
But Same Gateway Address and Same SSID and WEP wifi Password.
Step 5:-
After Configuring all devices we will see connection line between Devices and
Access Point which means our Devices are successfully connected wirelessly.

Now to Check the connection we will check by sending PDO packets and will run
simulation to see if transmission is being done in 2 respective devices or more
than 2 devices.

Step 6:-

After Sending PDO from 1 Device to Another and running simulation we can see
our packet is being transmitted to destination device wirelessly, which means we
have created Wireless Lan and our devices are successfully connected.

We can check our device connectivity by pining each device IP address to

ensure they are connected wirelessly.

Below is the Step by Step representation of how we create this Wireless

Lan network:----
Step 2 (Access Point Configuration)

Port 0

Port 1

We will set SSID and WEP password here in Port 1 of Access Point
Step 3 (PC 0 and Other Devices Configuration will be done in same manner).

Now we will use Same SSID and password that we setup in Step 2
We will configure IP address which will be different for all devices and
we will set Default Gateway which will be same for All devices.

Step 4 (We will scan for wi fi network and will connect

device to it:-
Select Wifi name and Connect and Enter Password of Wifi

Step 3 will be Same for PC1 and Laptop Device as well, while we
don’t need Step 4 for Tablet and Smartphone.

Step 5 (We can see line between device and Access Point)
Final Output our Wireless LAN network will look like this:-
