2- Lead Paragraph
Filmmaker Christopher Nolan has certainly earned a name for himself in the industry. People are
more intrigued and curious when he creates a movie. "Memento", "Insomnia", and "The
Prestige" were some of Nolan's early, good, but lesser-known films. The Dark Knight trilogy
(Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises) and the mind-bending
dreamscape thriller Inception made him a household name. As a result of these four films, Nolan
became a highly sought-after director in Hollywood. Christopher Nolan's directing wizardry
returns to the big screen two years after The Dark Knight Rises with his highly anticipated

blockbuster Interstellar. Does Christopher Nolan's newest picture reach for the stars, or does it
merely set sail into the void?
3- The Story
The Earth is dying and on its final breath in the future. Agricultural farmer Cooper (Matthew
McConaughey), a former NASA pilot who has now become an engineer, is trying to strike a
balance between parenting his two children, Tom (Timothee Chalmet) and Murphy (Mackenzie
Foy), and growing crops to rescue the populous. After discovering a cryptic code, cooper is
persuaded by Professor Brand (Michael Caine) to drive a space shuttle to the other side of an
asteroid belt in search of life. As the fate of mankind (literally) hangs in the balance, Cooper
decides to take on the mission, leaving behind his family, which emotionally destroys Murphy,
and embarking on an epic journey into the unknowns of space with Brand (Anne Hathaway),
Doyle (Wes Bentley), Romilly (David Gyasi), and TARS and CASE (Billy Irwin and Josh
Stewart).

1- The tesseract scene (which looks like a giant library and allows Cooper to access his
daughter’s bookshelf in the past) bears some resemblance to the concept of L-space as
described in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld books. L-space (short for Library space) is the
principle that the mass of information contained in a large collection of books warps
space and time, and in consequence a sufficiently large library allows the visitor to access
any library anywhere in space and time.
2- Cooper and Dr. Brand came back to Endurance after 23 years, 4 months and 8 days.
Which means that their entire mission on Miller’s planet took some 3 hours 17 minutes.

Many flaws plague Interstellar, which detract from the film's space exploration plot. In its 168-
minute runtime, the picture suffers from significant pacing issues, making it feel long and dull at
times. While the film attempts to appear credible with rational scientific allusions, they end up
being meaningless science techno babble. It's possible that you're wondering, "What are they
doing?" or "What did they say?" unless you have a Ph.D. in Physics (I surely did). It gets more
stranger at the movie's climax. During this moment, it branches out into uncharted region in the
cosmos and becomes a little odd and perplexing. You can almost get the Deus Ex Machina vibe
from it. Lastly, there are a few plot points in Interstellar that don't make sense, as if Nolan rushed
through them to get the storey moving or didn't know how to deal with them throughout the
writing process. A good example of this would be the ending of Deus Ex Machina. Because of
these (large or tiny) flaws, the picture is unable to fulfil its full potential.
There are some major names in Hollywood in Interstellar, as well as a few minor ones, including
a handful of cameos that are likely to surprise. In order to avoid spoiling the movie, I won't go
into depth about some of them. The film's main character Cooper is played by Matthew
McConaughey. Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective star Matthew McConaughey performs an
excellent job with his acting, evoking emotional effect effortlessly and with believability. His
"fast-talking" quips or clunky lines designed for his role cause him to stumble a bit from time to
time. There are several lines of dialogue created for Anne Hathaway's character Brand that are
both awkward and unhelpful. A powerful emotional performance by Jessica Chastain in her role
as Cooper's daughter Murphy. Mackenzie Foy, who plays the younger Murphy, is no exception.
Michael Caine, who plays Anne Hathaway's father, also makes an appearance, serving as a
minor character who pulls the narrative along in numerous sequences, as is typical in Christopher
Nolan films.
Finally, Interstellar reveals in its narration an intriguing idea. In addition to the human race's fate,
the film explores the conflict between family and work/duty, as well as the love-hate relationship
between a parent and kid (Cooper and Murphy in the film).
6- Final Thoughts / Conclusion
While ambitious, Interstellar suffers from a number of technical flaws. A love letter to space
travel, the film explores its exploration and the scientific, but baffling space / time ideas that will
leave a few individuals scratching their heads in uncertainty and confusion. If you can get past
the unanswerable narrative holes in Interstellar and the quantum physics that surrounds it,
though, you'll have a more delightful experience. Each viewer's impression of how the movie
makes them feel will determine the movie's likeability in the end. Interstellar had several logical
flaws in its storyline and undertaking, but it delivers on scope and grandeur with magnificent
vistas and emotional drama that together make a masterfully produced cinematic experience.
