1. Did ABC Corporation violate good management practice? Why or why not?
- Yes. As for me, the corporation is just very focused on how much it will earn. In
my opinion, 21year old as their target market is too young, especially that they are just
fresh graduates where they should be looking for a job or managing their family
business. Also, allowing the use of cigarettes is not a good practice for health and the
environment. A business should not only manage the business well but also their
customer and the society at large.
2. Did ABC Corporation violate any government policy? Why or why not?
- No. ABC Corporation hasn’t violated any government policy. Running a
business because you saw how successful it is from other countries is legal. Running a
huge casino business is also legal in our country. Actually, there are more than 20
casinos just in Metro Manila. Having 21-25 years old regular customers is also
permitted by the law. It was written in the law that gamblers must be at least 21 years
old. Next is that it is also allowed to smoke in casinos. However, in the issue that
instead of managing the business of their families, it is not the corporation’s control.
How the gamblers use their money after winning, where they take money after losing is
beyond the corporation’s responsibility and control, it is the choice of the gamblers/
customers.
3. What do you think is the public’s opinion on ABC Corporation?
- Aside from its success, people will talk about how this casino negatively affects
many people especially that their customers are mostly fresh graduates. The thought
that the gambler is regularly in the casino and losing a huge amount of money, will
always come to the public’s mind. How ABC Corporation influenced and encouraged
those youths that instead of working, they are using their time and money in gambling.
And also, the fact that some of them are asking money for their parent, it will also a big
issue to the public.
4. Will you consider establishing a casino in the Philippines a new opportunity? Why or
Why not?
- No. In my opinion, establishing and running a casino here in the Philippines is
not an opportunity but a risk. A casino may succeed in a growing population like the
Philippines to increase the number of potential customers, but the fact that Philippines
belongs to a third world country with poor citizens. Casino Business will somehow gain
profit but not that high. Especially now that we are in a midst of a pandemic.
