MUSIC 1

1.SPEED OF SOUND IN MUSIC 


Music may be fast or slow. The songs we sing may also be fast or slow. The
sound speed in music is referred to as the tempo.

Tempo is the pace or speed at which music is played.

Allegro - The tempo marking for fast music.

Andante - The tempo marking for slow music.

2. SINGING IN UNISON

Unison singing - Singing with a group, Each one should sing in the correct pitch and
in the same volume.

Here are some things to remember when singing in unison.


a. Listen to the others in the group.
b. Sing in one voice.
c. Do not sing too loudly or too softly.
d. Do not scream or shout.
e. Practice with the group.

3. LAYERS OF SOUND:THIN OR THICK


a. Thin - A music has a thin layer of sound when it is performed in solo by a
single performer.

A girl singing alone creates a thin layer of sound.

b.Thick - Music has a thick layer of sound if it is performed using two or more
instruments.

The layer of sound coming from a band is thick because there are many
instruments played at the same time.
