REFLECTION JOURNAL
80 hours of work simulation is not as easy as we think it could be. It can be full of hardships
as we are new to this and certain adjustments have to be done. Today, I had finish my 2
weeks immersion at the Mikrolab Diagnostic Laboratory and Health Clinic, who the owner is
an Architect Robbie S. Galang by the hands of the co-owner Mrs. Mercedes C. Galang.
Mikrolab Diagnostic Laboratory and Health Clinic is a. i see the clinic as my training ground
because it might help me more focus on what i wanted on the future. I choose this clinic for
the reason of my interest that i had realized since i go through the work immersion. As the
impressions of the company, I must say that it looks like a strict clinic that thinking i can’t
make a mistakes on my given task or else, i could get scolded but as i was in the clinic, I
didn’t know that we can be able to build a healthy working relationship on the company. In
relationship even if we only knew in just a shorten period of time, we feel like we have
known each other for a while now. As to my supervisor, I thought she was a strict person who
only wanted a responsible company but that change my beliefs when i’m with her with the 2
weeks of the immersion, she was a nice person and soft hearted mother to all of us. She guide
us through the end even her task is hard, i always think that she was just pushing us to be
ready to our future, so that in the future i had experience a task of what a med-tech could do.
As for the clients/patients, they are all nice, lucky I didn’t interact with a rude people but even
if i did, i will always respect them because of the rules that a patient must be respected to all
situations that must be encountered. I didn’t think what would they say to me but i know that
they are all nice. Having the immersion was really a good start to experience how it feels to
bank because in the strand of STEM, only the few of us were able to be accepted to have our
immersion there because the company (Mikrolab) don’t usually accept OJTs. I am very much
happy because working at the clinic is one of my dream jobs in the near future and spending

my immersion there, even in just a short span of time had really opened my eyes on how fun
at the same time, stressful to be working at the mikrolab. So far, my experience there was fun
at the same time, I can say that it is also somewhat boring because most of my time was
wasted by sitting and waiting for nothing. Why? Because there are 2 OJTs there, including
me. We are the first OJTs that had work with them. Only me and my classmate nira. Med-
tech’s in the laboratory were shock when they see as and accepted us to work with them.
Reminiscing my first day was totally full of shyness and nervousness, i was assigned to x-ray
and all you have to do is wait and be patient if there is something that is assigned to you.
After a few weeks of immersion, I have realized some things that will really be useful for my
future. First, punctuality is very essential because in this simple way, you can how serious
you are to your job, next would be patience. Patience when it comes to the tasks that they’re
going to give you, as well as the times that you’re just waiting for the next task that will be
given to you, even if you already got bored waiting for nothing. And lastly, always poses a
positive attitude. Because positivity is next to tranquility. To sum it all up, I am glad for
another experiences that I will treasure the most. There, I have experienced new things that
aren’t familiar with the things I usually do at school. I have met new people and thankful that
I had learned something. As a beginner, I was afraid of getting mistake because thinking that
I could get scolded but I have to be strong. I have to prove to them I am worth it and I can
multitask a job if they hand me some task. I don’t care about what people say about me
because in this world, we have to live with a stronger mind and attitude so that you can’t be
down on the words that they are referring to you. When I feel stress, I just want to sleep
because sleep can take you away from the reality. It also helps you to have a positive mind. In
challenges, I was brave enough to conquer all of my negatives. I was afraid of what is going
on but still confident to say that I am okay going through a hard situation. I was used to a
hard situation and I also know how to handle things. Just think positive and don’t mind the
negative. What I have love to do is injecting a patient’s blood and getting to know their blood
types. What I dislike is that when I was getting bored that I always wanted to do something. I

accept direction, feedback and works under pressure by just thinking that I could make it and
I am happy on what I am doing. If I were to start a company, a value system that I would
build is to trust, if we are going to applied it on the real life situation. Trust is very important
to one of use and also risky. If I had a company, I should persuade people to trust my clinic
because we would do everything to satisfy the patients with our works. I would always see
myself in ten years, graduating on being a medical technology and making my parents proud
of me.

During my work experience at the mikrolab, I was fortunate enough to have experienced
firsthand and learned, many different sides of what goes into a project, the general process of
how a project is initially planned, developed and completed; as well as how much work and
detail goes into every stage. Another valuable lesson I have learned during these 12 weeks,
were the many different types of work an Medical Technology has to perform, which in turn,
have provided me with more insight into the different types of roles and responsibilities that I
Reflecting back to my first day at mikrolab, it was one of the most memorable days of my
time at work. After being introduced to everyone, I was handed a tender to work on, in which
they had asked me for recommendations to improve certain aspects of the project wherever I
see fit, as well as my opinions on the project as an entirety. They were very open and happy
for me to contribute as much as I wanted to, and were open to any suggestions and ideas. This
instantly made me feel comfortable and definitely made me feel as though I was part of the
team. One of my best given task to me was when they taught me how to know the person’s
blood type and let me do the work with the patients. I was overwhelmed, thinking that it
During the first week of work completing the tender, I was overwhelmed by the work and the
responsibilities that were placed on me, but with the help of my supervisor and the med-
tech’s, who have had years of experience in the industry, I felt more confident and supported
as I knew my work would be double checked and any uncertainties were explained. By
observing and learning from them, I managed to pick up tips and learned different types of
skills, from learning to communicate and deal with other companies, to reading and
Working on tenders for the first few weeks was enjoyable for me as it did make me use all the
techniques I learned at University in every stream of Med-Tech that had been taught us. I
realise this might not be the same everywhere and usually Med-Tech might focus on one type
of stream, but I was happy that I had the opportunity to use all of my theoretical knowledge
Through experience and observation, another valuable lesson that I learned while working at
mikrolab was that in projects, especially when working in primary stages of certain project,
things can change very quickly and dramatically. Another lesson I learned through this was
that if there are any uncertainties, from whether a survey was off by a few millimeters, to if
materials chosen for a certain aspect of a project were unsuitable, it always has to be checked
numerous times and from senior level sources before any conclusions can be made, especially
