CHAPTER 1
Introduction
The Grade 12 students of Batangas Christian School has been challenged with

regards to business in increasing their strategies and techniques in selling online.

Knowing where to begin and the way to face out from their competitors when it involves

business. Online selling becomes a suitable way to make all of your purchases,

whether you’re reception, in office, or in an exceedingly different country. This can be

very true for developed countries, where every Grade 12 Students has its website you'll

be able to buy from. You'll be able to easily convey about the promotions like cash on

delivery and special discounts on online purchases. In accordance to Demery (2010)

the advantage of the online channel is that some customers find it convenient, think that

it saves their time, and observe that it's easier to search out a selected item in online

store. The main aspect of having a successful entrepreneur is having a marketing

strategy. According to (e.g. Day and Wensley 1988; Varadarajan 2010). Marketing

strategy may be a significant propulsion that distinguishes the success of the many

organizations not only by well-developed marketing strategies outlining where, when,

and the way the firm will compete but also by their ability to execute the marketing

strategy decision options chosen.

Background of the Study


The rise in the use of the internet has led to many changes in our daily life.

In particular this rise has also led to the rise of online selling in social media like posting
on Facebook and to other social media sites. Online is a web based application that

allows individuals to conveniently access to web as online through any device like

computer, laptop, and mobile phones. Online Selling or shopping online is a form of

electric commerce which allows the costumers to buy directly of goods or services from

online seller through internet using web browsers. Online selling is quite in demand in

Philippines for the past years now.

Based on the study conducted by We are Social on 2019, there are 4.49

billion internet users in 2019, some of it are social media users which is 3.48 billion in

numbers worldwide. This is higher than 2018, increased by 288 million. These internet

users are engaged with different online activities like online shopping. This led massive

number of entrepreneurs to do their businesses online which resulted to numerous

competitors worldwide.

Online Business is one of the best ways or efficient ways to buy and sell

items. It also can make your life easier to shop items through scrolling online. In online

business, people also use window shopping where they can search different products

that they can find different products that they can compare to other product. Most

commonly, the problem in online selling is that if you buy some item and you don’t get

the same thing shown in the post, weak internet access, and not refundable. The

researchers will conduct a survey to random online sellers to know their strategies as

well as their techniques as online seller and the researchers aim to know the

effectiveness of their business through online selling. For those people who asked if the

online business is safe to be a business. The researchers will found out if it is safe to
use for online shopping. In addition, the researcher will also determine the advantages

and disadvantages of shopping online.

Another study that proves marketing strategies must be planned and improved

well for profitable outcomes of the business, is the study conducted by P&A Grant

Thornton on 2017 which states consumers flock to online shops due to convenience,

discounts and savings and the wide array of selection in one website. This gave rise for

entrepreneurs to create their own strategies in online selling to attract more customers.

In order to achieve the goals set by the entrepreneurs in their business different

marketing strategies are implemented. But since there are lots of competitors online,

where entrepreneurs mostly conduct their transactions, entrepreneurs find it difficult on

establishing and maintaining their strategies unique and effective. It is a big challenge

for the entrepreneurs to create innovative and attainable strategies that will help them to

achieve the prosperity of their business. Researchers found students of Batangas

Christian School very adoptive in technological advancements which one of the reasons

why some of the students under that strand entered the world of business online. It

gave rise to the curiosity of researches to know more about the ways of student

entrepreneurs in Selling Online.

In conducting this study, researchers aimed to identify the different online

marketing strategies that used by student entrepreneurs. Researchers conducted this

study to establish the actions on how entrepreneurs and future entrepreneurs will

develop their marketing approaches for the productiveness of their business.


These purposes led the researchers to dive deeper about selling online. They

think that through identifying the different online marketing strategies used by

entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs will be more productive in their operations online. In the

end of this study, researchers aim to establish answers about the questions related to

study through having exploration in the sides of ABM student entrepreneurs of

Batangas Christian School.


Theoretical framework
The researchers found a theory that can be related in our study. This theory

is called the AIDAS Theory of selling. The researches use flowchart as a diagram

because it shows the how sell a product.

Figure 1 shows the input of the study conducted by the researchers. The

input consists of reasons in choosing online business why they choose online selling as

well as what are the different strategies that they do as an online sellers. To have a

smooth flow of study, researchers used interviews to gather enough information for the

study. This interview guide consists different questions that are aligned in the research

objectives of this study. As an output, researchers will create a seminar elaborating the

suggested actions of the researchers to improve the strategies used by the student

entrepreneurs for the development of their business.


Statement of the Problem

The main objective of this study is to examine the effect of sales promotion on

customer awareness about the company’s product or packages and also to determine

whether sales promotion makes the customers to maintain repeat purchase and have

product loyalty.

Specific questions that the researcher seek to answer the following:

1. To determine the reasons in choosing online selling business?

2. To identify the weaknesses of having an online business?

3. To know the strategies that online sellers are using?

4. To determine the proposed strategies for online sellers to improve their online
business?

Scope, Limitation and Delimitation

This study will be conducted in Batangas Christian School located at De joya

Compound Alangilan, Batangas City. Pre-determine the sample sizes of the

respondents of the study are only ten (10) random students of Batangas Christian

School . This study will be conducted during second semester of school year 2019-

2020.

The study is limited only to the online resellers from the students of BCS.. This

will not include the students from other schools because it will consume more time. Only

the students of Batangas Christian School are the scope of this study. This study is

limited to the responses of the selected students.


Significance of the Study

The researchers strongly believed that this research study would determine the

Strategies and Techniques in Selling Products Online in Batangas Christian

School students. Moreover, the result of this study will significantly help the following

individuals or groups:

Students, The information presented will enable them to determine whether

strategies and techniques makes the customers to maintain repeat purchase and have

product loyalty.

Parents, This study will help them to have extra income through online business

using their spare time.Further, it provides extra strategies and techniques in engaging

for future online business. Thus, this research will give an idea to house wives to join

and to profit in online business.

Teachers and School Admins, The information presented here in this study will

be very beneficial to the teachers and to the administrations to make at extra income

through online selling. However, They will apply the techniques in online business.

Entrepreneurs. The research will give some ideas and information about their

business like online selling in social media.

Future Researchers, The result of this study can be used as reference data in

conducting and finding evidences for new researches. They can use this on evaluating

whether the recommendations of this study will be effective and efficient enough or not.
Definition of Terms

For better understanding of facts in the study, the following terms are defined,

conceptually and operationally:

E-commerce - Is the buying and selling of goods and services, or the

transmitting of funds or data, over an electronic network, primarily the internet (Rouse,

2019). The term was used to know involves on-going advertising, sales promotion and

publicity.

Products - Is an object or system made available for consumer use; it is anything

that can be offered to a market to satisfy the desire or need of a customers. (Adam, S.

2006). The term was used to utilize.

Strategy- Is the blueprint of decisions in an organization that shows its objectives

and goals, reduces the key policies, and plans for achieving these goals, and defines

the business the company is to carry on, the type of economic and human organization

it wants to be, and the contribution it plans to make to its shareholders, customers and

society at large. ( Juneja 2015). The term used to utilized ,and allocating the scarce

resources within the organizational environment so as to meet the present objectives.

Techniques – A systematic procedure,formula, or routine by which a task is

accomplished. (WebFinanceInc2009). The term used to perform skills.

Online Selling –Is a form of electronic commerce which allows sellers to directly sell

goods or services to a buyer over the Internet using a web browser. (Peraut 2018). The

term used to specified.
