Quality Control v4 0

This document outlines quality control standards for Building Information Modeling (BIM) data submitted to the U.S. General Services Administration's (GSA) Region 5. It establishes that projects appoint a Quality Representative to complete a quality control report for each data submission. The report documents the project information, included data files, type of submittal, compliance with BIM standards, auditing of files, and contact information for the Quality Representative. BIM data is expected to meet defined standards that increase in strictness as the project progresses from concept to construction to as-built phases.

Quality Control Report

VERSION 4.0
Released: 7/1/2013

1 Introduction
As part of the GSA Region 5 push towards a BIM process there is a need to ensure that BIM data
meets a certain level of standards. These standards are defined within the GSA Region 5 BIM
Standards site and assistance in adhering to them can be found in the supplied BIM templates.

GSA recognizes that part of a true BIM based workflow will involve data developing over time from a
very course design to the record drawings and as-builts as such the models adherence to standards
will also follow a similar path. As the model progress through the five distinct stages of
development the requirements of standardization will increase and GSA tolerance for error will
decrease. This course to focused methodology will culminate in the final delivery of As-Built and
Record drawings. The level of standards compliance of these models is absolute as they will used to
power Facility Management systems.

2 Quality Representative
As part of the standard BIM Scope of Work every party responsible for delivery BIM data to the GSA
is to appoint a Quality Representative at the time the complete the BEP. The Quality Representative
(often the BIM integrator) is to complete this form each time data is submitted to GSA.
