FOREWORD
I am pleased to announce that the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB), in collaboration with various oil
palm organisations from the industry and government agencies, is continuing to offer the Intensive Di-
ploma in Oil Palm Management and Technology (IDOPMT). This unique course, provides upstream and
downstream knowledge in palm oil production, which also offers practical training at a selected oil palm
plantation.
This Diploma caters to the needs of a wide spectrum of target groups - estate managers, supervisors
and decision makers in oil palm plantations. Lately, participants for IDOPMT have included fresh gradu-
ates and those intending to change profession to the oil palm industry.
MPOB has been offering this training programme annually since 1982. The programme was upgraded
in 1999 to a Diploma with Advanced Training. To date, since the implementation of the advanced diploma
program, we have trained 294 personnel from 54 organisations including 26 participants from 12 foreign
countries.
The Diploma is a valuable asset for career advancement in the plantation industry. Majority of the past
participants have been promoted to senior positions whilst others gained salary increments.
Feedback on the programme from past participants has indicated that they gained new insights into
the latest oil palm technologies from discussions and interaction with the experts. In addition, interac-
tions and sharing of experiences with their fellow participants from various organisations and countries
have further enhanced their knowledge in oil palm management and technology.
It is therefore, my utmost pleasure, to invite you to attend this course. Thank you.
