1. English Composition course are designed to affirm foundation in a basic writing skills. EC course will
introduce to these skills with the help of reading and writing activities. It consist of the entire process of
putting together a well-crafted essays, which includes reserching, revising, poloshing and presenting
final draft.
 
``Writing`` is the process of using symbols to communaicate thoughts and ideas in a readable form.
 
Why writing is important?
 
1. To develop brain activitie
2. Powers of observation
3. To improve your concentration and attention
4. Connection
5. Preserve stories and memories
6. Kind of entertaiment
7. Develop the imagination
8. Strengthens your imagination
 
 
Writing process
 
Writing is a process that involves at least 4 distinct steps:
1. Prewriting
*Anithing we do before we start writing (Thinking,serching the information…)*
 
2. Drafting
*creating sestences and paragrsphs*

3. Revising
*thinking about your reader’s needs and expectations*
 
4. Editing
*Check the grammar, mechanics and spelling*
 
Paragraph
Paragraph is a group of sentences organized around central topic. The cardinal rule of paragraph
writing is to focus to one idea. The basic paragraph structure usually consists of 5-10 sentences.
 
 
Four essential elements of paragraph
1. Unity
*begins with a topic sentence. Every paragraph has one single controlling idea that is
expressed in its topic sentence, which is typically the first sentence of the paragraph*
 
2. Order
*refers to the way you organize supporting sentences - chronological order, order of
importance, logical order*
 
3. Coherence
*transitional or linking words*
 
4. Complintance
*the paragraph is well developed*
 
 
How to write the paragraph?
 
1. Decide the topic of your paragraph(it shouldn’t be too narrow/too broad).
 
2. Develop topic sentence.
*The good topic sentence should always contain both: the topic and the controlling idea.*
The topic-is the main subject of your paragraph and the controlling idea - is the idea, focused the
topic.
 
3. Demonstrate your point (with the help of facts, details, reasons, examples; information from
the reading or last discussions, paraphrases or short quotations, statistics, polls, data, numbers,
personal experience, stories, jokes, anecdotes)
 
 
4. Give your paragraph meaning (to explain why information in your paragraph is relevant,
interesting or meaningful)
 
5. Conclude (has two crucial rules in paragraph - summarize and provide the link between the
paragraphs)
 
6. Look over and proofread (Does my paragraph answer the prompt and support my opinion?
Does it make sense/use appropriate academic ways?)
