Community pantries were the talk of the town these past few weeks.
Be it instagram, facebook, twitter and other social media sites, its name
would always be found on the leader board of hot issues. Now you might
ask, what is a community pantry? To simply put it together a community
pantry is a help of some kind organized by people in that area to assist
locals suffering from food instability. I recently came across an article
online titled, “What the community pantry movement means to Filipinos”
and it piqued my curiosity. Reading the article gave me an insight on how
people struggling financially were the ones affected gravely by the
pandemic, and I think a community pantry is a great help to locals like
them, locals who survives in a day to day basis working just to make ends
meet but is still not enough. It really was a great idea made by Ana
Patricia Non and it warmed my heart how there are still people willing to
help other people. She had the initiative to start a community pantry and
make people join in and be like her. See how powerful an idea can
become. Community pantries are thriving and when they are thriving it
only means one thing. Locals with food instability are helped! Solidarity
really does the work and with that said, community pantries are a yes for
me!
