Measures of Central tendency

Problem 01: The profits (in thousand) in a particular month earned by a number of salesmen of a
large company are given below:

Requirements:
a) Calculate the average score of players by using A.M
b) Calculate the median and modal score and comment.
c) If the team managers want to increase 10% payment of each of the top 15% scorers,
determine the lowest score of players who will receive the benefits.

Problem 03: The monthly incomes (in taka) of 100 small shops are given below:

Draw a histogram by the above data and find mode from histogram. Calculate mode from direct

The mean height of 25 male workers in a factory is 61 inches and the mean height of 35 female
workers in the same factory is 58 inches. Find the combined mean height of 60 workers in the
factory.

Problem 15: The mean annual salary of employees of a company is taka 30,000. The mean annual
salaries of male and female employees are taka 35,000 and taka 23,000 respectively. Find the
percentage of male and female employees working in the company.

d) Determine the limits (or intervals) of the marks of central (middle) 50 percent of the
students.
e) Determine the range of the marks of central (middle) 50% of the students.

In an HSC examination students from Notre Dame College were appeared and marks obtained as

taka 38. The mean wage of 60 workers working in the morning shift is taka 40. Find out the mean
wage of worker in the evening shift.

Problem 27:
The average monthly income of male employees in affirm is taka 1,000 and that of the females is
taka 800. But the mean income of all the employee is taka 920. Find out the percentages of male and
female employees.
