 They came, they saw and they conquered ....... well ....not all

ome things end with a yelp, others with a whimper, but MTN Project Fame West Africa
Season 1 ended with a BANG!!!!! That’s right the best and biggest singing competition
in West Africa has come to and end, and if you don’t know what I’m talking about,
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN THE LAST 10 WEEK, because you missed the show that
has taken the whole of West Africa by storm, but don’t worry because we will be back
again next year, bigger, better and more vibrant. For this year though the Grand Finale show was
one to remember as tears, joy, special guest performers and nervous tension gave way to happiness,
gratefulness and determination, as MTN Project Fame West Africa crowned it’s first ever
WINNER!!

The show began with Dare Alade, musician extraordinaire, past second runner up of Project Fame
Africa and presenter of MTN Project Fame West Africa performing his soon to be mega hit ‘Not
the girl’. His performance was then followed by that of Faze, which drove the crowd wild and soon
everybody was going Kolomental. In case that was not enough, the past 11 students of the
Academy were presented to the audience and they got the standing ovation that they deserve.
While this is all worth talking about, when the true stars of the shows came on stage Nii, Annette,
Praise and Iyanya, it was unsurprising the response that they received. So from Micheal Bolton to
Withney Houston, Bee Gees to Daniel Bedingfield, the reception was exceptional. Not to be left
out, the past students of the Academy came on stage to
give the performance of ‘All We Need is Love’, a
song composed by Caroline and loved by all. At this point,
some might be asking ‘Kini big deal’………………
well the big deal was Neato C, winner of best new act at
the first ever MTV Africa Music Award (MAMA),
held in Nigeria, who sang his hit song ‘Kini big deal’
which was produced by one of MTN Project Fame West
Africa’s very own judge Tee Y Mix.
So far, the show produced Dare, Faze, one
performance each from the fantastic four, another from the 11 other students and Neato C. The next
stage of the show brought about dynamisms, as never seen before, as the final fantastic four Nii,
Annette, Praise and Iyanya, came back on stage to give a medley of their own composition and
their African songs, which they did to great acclaim. As the final hour/ minute/ second approached,
the judges and faculty all gave the fantastic four advices on things to watch out for in their coming
careers, how to prepare for this wonderful occasion in their lives and what to look forward to.

 The 3rd runner up with N 1 Million, is Annette

 The 2nd runner up with N1 Million and a fully loaded Toyota Yaris, is Praise

The tension became unbearable as the last two contestants Nii and Iyanya stood centre stage
waiting to find who had one the big prize, and the winner is ……………………………………….
You have to wait for it, because the first runner up of MTN Project Fame West Africa is

 Nii with N1.5 and a fully loaded Toyota Corolla.

This makes the winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa Season 1,

 Iyanya , and he wins N 2.5 Million, a fully loaded Toyota Rav 4 and a music recording contract.The
crowd went wild, everybody was jumping up and down in excitement and Iyanya was kneeling in
prayer and thanking God.
