ECE 380 : Lab 02
Introduction
This experiment is about the usage of breadboard by connecting some circuit with wires on the
breadboard. As breadboard is use for the hardware circuit connections. Breadboard have some
holes which are connected internally as according to some configurations like 5 holes in a
column are connected together or 5 holes in a rows are connected together. Further in this
experiment first 5V power supply will construct and then IC of NAND, NOR, XOR, AND, OR
and NOT gate will use on the breadboard for the testing of logic gates on the hardware.
Procedure
In this experiment there are total three activities in which different circuits are constructed on the
breadboard. Detail of each activity is describe below:-
Activity 1:
In this activity +5V regulator IC circuit is constructed on the breadboard. For this LM7805 which
is regulator IC is used, input of this is connected with the +9V and output of this IC gives the
constant +5V volt, ground is common with the input source and output. At the output a 100 ohm
resistor is connected which connects with the LED. When circuit source power is ON LED glow
with the +5V. Schematic Diagram and circuit diagram are shown below:-
Activity 2:
In this activity AND, OR, & NOT gate IC is set on the breadboard and with the gates input push
buttons are attached and with the output LEDs are attached. Push buttons gives the logic HIGH
and LOW at the gate inputs and according to the gate functionality output is shown on the LEDs.
When LED is OFF its mean output is logic LOW and when the LED is lit its mean output is
HIGH. With the inputs of gate LEDs are also attached that shows the behavior of input logic of
push buttons. Schematics and hardware circuit diagrams of these gates are shown below:-

Activity 3:
In this activity NAND, NOR, & XOR gate IC is set on the breadboard and with the gates input
push buttons are attached and with the output LEDs are attached. With the push buttons LM7805
IC voltage is connected. Push buttons gives the logic HIGH and LOW at the gate inputs and
according to the gate functionality output is shown on the LEDs. When LED is OFF its mean
output is logic LOW and when the LED is lit its mean output is HIGH. With the inputs of gate
LEDs are also attached that shows the behavior of input logic of push buttons. Schematics and
hardware circuit diagrams of these gates are shown below:-
