Lesson Plan in Science

I. Objective :

At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:


A. Identify each body part through a song titled Head, Shoulder, Knees and Toes.
B. Demonstrate the importance of each body part through various activities that hone their
skills and knowledge in counting, matching, labeling, discovering and recognizing the five
senses.
C. Describe and categorize the different parts of the body through the pictures provided on
the chart and teach the student to remember and know how to read it.
D. Discuss and explain well each body part to find out the importance and use of each body
part through chart and flash cards.
E. Applies all the knowledge learned about each part of the body through different group
activities.

B. Motivation
Sing the song “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes“.

Everyone stand up as the song plays the teachers sings and does
all the actions, touching each part of his/her body with two hands in
time with the song. Make sure your students are following along.
It is easy and fun so your students will love doing this. Each
verse gets faster so by the last verse it will be frantic but great
fun.

(Each verse gets faster and faster)

Group Activity
The teacher will divide the pupils into four (4)

 Each group will receive an envelope with different task/activity inside.


 They will use their prior knowledge to express what their
understanding about the task given.
 Members from each group will share their thoughts regarding the assigned
to them to explain to the class.

Direction: Look at each picture of the body parts and put the correct number inside
the box.

Direction: Draw a line from picture on left to the matching picture on right.

Direction: Cut out each word and match it to the correct body part.

D. Analysis:
1. PAIR ME
 The teacher will post a different picture or a flash card and words of the
parts of the body on the board.
 The teacher will guide her students so when reading she should first and
teach each other well.
 The pupils will choose and match the pictures with its corresponding parts
of the body.

Have the pupils answer the following question to start the topic:

 What part of the body helps you keep balance?


 What body part allows you to have the sense of smell?
 What part of the body the essential for speech, with the lips,
tongue, and teeth?

E. Abstraction

I have something to show you. I have here a chart of a human body. I would like you
to identify the body parts.

(The teacher will teach different part of the body and their functions.)

 Use for seeing

Eyes are very important to us so we have to be careful to look


after them. They show us our world and they show others
how we are feeling.

 Use for walking

A foot (foot, two or more feet) is a body part on the end of the
leg. It is used when walking. It is also important for balance. It
helps people stand straight.

 Use for touching


Hands help us to do so many things like writing, holding,
carrying, playing games, using a computer, texting on phones
and a million other things.
 Use for smelling
Nose lets you smell and it is a big part of why you are able to
taste things. The nose is also the main gate to the respiratory
system your body’s system for breathing.

 Use for tasting


Mouth is essential for speech, with the lips and tongue, teeth
help from words by controlling airflow out of the mouth. Human
take food through the mouth.

 Use for hearing

Ears not only provide the ability to hear, but also made it
possible for maintain balance.
