coaters developed at the Méréville site are exported and used in 35 countries all over the

world. Seed coatings can best be understood as the “glue” that allows any seed treatment

product to bind to the actual seed. In combination, the active ingredient that is coated on the

seed helps to protect seeds against insects and diseases that could prevent the seed from

germinating or growing. Seed treatments are especially important for field crop seeds such

as wheat, rapeseed, maize, sunflower, rice and soya, and vegetable seeds such as beetroot.

otherwise be sent to landfill and decompose to form methane, will first be separated from any recyclable items before being converted

to syngas and used to make sustainable aviation fuel, which burns cleaner and with fewer particles. The team developed a new

catalyst formation – using concepts from fundamental inorganic chemistry, optimising cobalt dispersion and molecular interactions

– as well as a new carrier for the catalyst that increases its surface area and removes the heat given off during the reaction. The fuel

will initially be deployed by Fulcrum BioEnergy in Nevada in 2021. Once operational, the plant – the first of its kind in the US – is

expected to convert approximately 175,000 tons of household waste into approximately 11 million gallons of fuel each year – the

equivalent of fuel needed for more than 180 transatlantic return flights. It is a vital step in the transition to low carbon fuels in the

aviation industry – one of the most challenging sectors to adapt due to the energy density needed in aircraft.

Description
Luxembourg’s National Railways have chosen Alstom to equip the 34 new Coradia regional trains, ordered in December 2018, with an Automatic
Train Operation (ATO) system. The high-capacity double-deck trains will be equipped with the latest automation technology and will gradually
enter commercial service on Luxembourg's national network, as well as in Belgium and France, at the end of 2021. It will be the first time in
Europe that a regional train fleet is equipped with ATO at Grade of Automation level 2 (GoA2) in combination with ETCS. ATO is a digital system
that enables varying degrees of automation of trains and aids train drivers in performing some of their tasks. Four levels of automation have been
defined. The higher the degree of automation (Grade of Automation or GoA), the greater the number of tasks the system can handle. GoA4 is the
highest level of automation without a driver on board, as on some metro lines. Benefits of ATO include increasing the density of trains on the
network, saving energy, improving punctuality and increasing the level of safety by limiting human error. The Coradia Stream trains for CFL will
be equipped with the ATO Level GoA2 automatic operation system. GoA2 involves fully automated starting, driving and stopping, with a driver
who can intervene in the event of an emergency. It increases the capacity of the network by reducing intervals between trains and saves energy by
regulating traction and braking forces. The ATO GoA2 equipment will be installed on CFL's trains at Alstom’s Signalling Centre of Excellence in

Description
Air Liquide steps up its support to Energy Observer by becoming main partner for the next 4 years. Energy Observer – the first hydrogen vessel
around the world – and Air Liquide – a pioneer in the international development of the hydrogen sector – have been working together since the
launch of this laboratory ship which aims to demonstrate the key role of hydrogen in the energy transition. This new stage in their collaboration,
featuring a technological support component, is fully in line with the sustainable development objectives of the Air Liquide Group, including its
commitments to renewable hydrogen in particular. As the first ship autonomous in energy, and a French ambassador for the Sustainable
Development Goals, Energy Observer explores concrete solutions and develops technologies to accelerate ecological transition. Since its launch
in April 2017 in Saint-Malo, and even before its departure for a zero-emission world tour, Air Liquide has been supporting this scientific and
technological project by becoming an official supporter. Hydrogen is the cornerstone of the Energy Observer energy chain. Indeed, the key
characteristic of Energy Observer is its energy mix, including three sources of renewable energies as well as a complete hydrogen production chain
on board the ship using sea water electrolysis. The green hydrogen produced can store a large amount of energy, and does not release any CO2 or
fine-particle emissions. Its use, combined with short-term battery storage, has enabled the ship to sail fully autonomously for 4 years over 75,000
km in extreme conditions, through the Mediterranean, then the Arctic and the Atlantic, and now the Pacific.

Description
Johnson Matthey (JM), a global leader in sustainable technologies, has teamed up with CPI, an independent technology innovation centre and Thomas Swan, one

of the UK’s leading independent chemical manufacturers, to explore how to best optimise battery technology. The ICE-Batt project receives funding support from

the Faraday Battery Challenge, managed by Innovate UK – the UK’s innovation agency – to enable the investigation of how innovative carbon nanotubes (CNTs)

and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) can improve battery performance. Ultimately this could lead to improvements in energy density, power density and low

temperature performance of lithium-ion and beyond lithium-ion technologies. In addition, the project will explore how to improve the green credentials of battery

processing. ICE-Batt will combine Thomas Swan’s innovative GNP technology and CPI’s formulation expertise to explore how together they can help realise the

full potential from JM’s high performance battery materials. The battery market was revolutionised by the advent of lithium-ion technology in 1991. However,

today’s electrification of the automotive powertrain, driven by our need for improved global air quality, requires constant innovation to meet the public’s

expectations on range, power and lifetime cost. The ICE-Batt project aims to overcome limitations of lithium-ion batteries, including energy density, power density

and low temperature performance through the application of innovative carbons. ICE-Batt will fine tune these novel carbon structures produced at an industrial

scale by Thomas Swan and demonstrate how they can be best applied to enhance the overall performance of traditional lithium-ion and next generation batteries

such as JM’s family of nickel-rich advanced cathode materials eLNO® and LIFE POWER® LFP.

Immunotherapeutic Drug Candidate
Description
SelectImmune Pharma, a pharmaceutical company developing novel immunotherapeutics and alternatives to antibiotics, and Lonza, a global
CDMO partner to the biotech and biopharma industry, have announced a collaboration to develop processes for NlpD, a novel immunotherapy
protein. Antibiotic resistance represents a major threat to public health. The existing pool of antibiotics and our ability to protect patients from
bacterial infections is threatened by the rise of antibiotic resistance. Instead of targeting the pathogenic bacteria, the patient’s immune system can
be boosted to balance the immune response and enhance the beneficial gene expression. This new concept shifts the balance in favor of beneficial
symbiotic bacteria and away from pathogenic infections. NlpD is a protein originating in beneficial bacteria present in the human microbiome and
has been found to inhibit infection and inflammation in animal models. This RNA polymerase II inhibitor can be purified in large quantities.
Advancing a drug candidate from late-stage discovery into the clinic represents one of the most critical development steps. Process de-risking and
assessing developability and manufacturability early on helps maximize the chances of success further down the development and manufacturing
pathway. Under the terms of the agreement, SelectImmune will leverage Lonza’s early development services, which include non-GMP expression
and laboratory-scale process development, to lay the groundwork for future pre-clinical studies of NlpD. The early development activities will be
carried out at Lonza’s Cambridge (UK) site.

Prevalidated Hepatocytes for Use on Innovative Organ-on-a-chip Range

Description
Lonza and CN Bio have entered into a distribution agreement whereby Lonza will supply a selection of hepatic cells to be prequalified by CN Bio for use in

their PhysioMimixTM Single-and Multi-Organ MPS to transform the way human-relevant pre-clinical data is generated. With prequalified cells, customers

can avoid having to trial numerous cell types in order to be assured of finding ones that will grow and behave functionally in 3D culture and fast-track their

route to generating reliable and robust data. The use of physiologically relevant in vitro models plays an important role in driving down attrition rates and

boosting the efficiency and success of drug discovery programs. It is increasingly clear that standard 2D cell culture fails to accurately reflect the complex

interactions that take place in the living body, while animal models are slow, expensive and do not always correlate to the same interactions in humans.

Innovative models, such as OOC, offer the way forward and this agreement is a critical step in realizing that vision to bring more physiologically relevant

models to the industry. The PhysioMimixTM Single and Multi-Organ MPS allow researchers to recreate an environment that more accurately represents the

human body in the laboratory to generate translationally relevant pre-clinical data. Until now, the widespread adoption of OOC technologies has been

hampered by a lack of quality control and performance criteria for consistent use of the devices and reproducibility of results between experimental sites.

These have posed significant limitations for translational experiments using OOC technology in contexts of use in drug development. To address this, the

FDA has worked with CN Bio to demonstrate the robustness and reliability of their technology for drug metabolism and safety toxicity applications.

markets including material handling, mobility, aerospace, manufacturing, metals, energy and electronics. Linde is a global leader in

the production, processing, storage and distribution of hydrogen. It has the largest liquid hydrogen capacity and distribution system

in the world. The company also operates the world's first high-purity hydrogen storage cavern, coupled with an unrivaled pipeline

network of approximately 1,000 kilometers globally to reliably supply its customers. Linde is at the forefront in the transition to clean

ABB (Switzerland) to supply chargers for sustainable parcel delivery by Austria’s IT Shades
Engage & Enable
postal service

Description
Austrian full-service provider eww Anlagentechnik and ABB have supplied Austria’s national postal service, Österreichische Post, with 2,000

AC-charging stations to electrify its fleet and support the expansion of sustainable parcel delivery throughout the Alpine republic.

Österreichische Post is fully committed to e-mobility and wants to achieve emission-free deliveries by 2030. Some 2,000 Terra AC wallbox

charging points will be installed at more than 100 locations. The regional full-service provider eww Anlagentechnik, in cooperation with ABB

as a global leader in electric vehicle charging, will provide the innovative solution for the AC charging requirements of the delivery fleet.

Electric cars have been in use at Österreichische Post since 2011. In 2019, the group decided to convert the entire delivery fleet to e-drives or

other alternative forms by 2030 with the aim to achieve CO2-free delivery for the so-called “last mile” – the journeys of letters and parcels

from the delivery base to the addressees. Österreichische Post operates the largest fleet of e-vehicles in Austria, with 2,100 vehicles. In order

to be able to charge the steadily growing fleet of electric vehicles in a future-proof manner, it is important to create reliable and optimum

charging conditions at their locations. The Terra AC-Wallbox impresses with its outstanding quality, future-proof flexibility and high security.

Space-saving and easy to install, it is characterized above all by its user-friendliness.

Miscellaneous Updates
Lowe’s teams up with DuPont (USA) to support companies making PPE IT Shades
Engage & Enable

Description
The supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) continues to be stressed. In response, Lowe’s and DuPont teamed up to support

businesses that are transforming their operations to help supply healthcare organizations with needed PPE. As part of the

#TyvekTogether program, DuPont and Lowe’s donated rolls of Tyvek® 1222A to businesses across the United States, including

Merrow Manufacturing, Thermaxx and Studio Displays. These companies transitioned to manufacture gowns out of the rolls of fabric

and donated them to first responders and healthcare professionals. From this collaboration, Merrow Manufacturing, who swiftly

became one of the largest producers of US-sourced PPE, is now able to create 60,000 additional gowns to be donated to schools,

EMS, assisted living facilities and frontline medical workers in July. The partnership is also helping local businesses fill some gaps.

Studio Displays in Pineville, North Carolina, a trade show display company, is one of many small businesses already feeling the

financial crunch from COVID-19. The downturn in business was especially hard because the company was expecting 2020 to be a

strong year. The company is now using the donated material to keep the company running while helping their healthcare community.

The gowns will be donated to Charlotte area hospitals.
