NARRATIVE REPORT on
LAC Training on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

Earthquake is one of the most disastrous natural calamities. This is usually

followed by a massive fire due to damages in electrical circuits that may cause total
destruction to humans and properties. With these incidents that may happen
anytime, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Program (NDRRMC), in cooperation
with all the government agencies conducts quarterly earthquake and fire drill to
promote awareness of every individual in the eventuality of disasters and
emergencies.
In pursuant with this campaign, the San Andres Elementary School conducted
a Training on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management on August 23, 2019. This
training aims to: train parents, teachers and students on how to practice proper
action and response during and after earthquake; to generate the highest level of
awareness among the public on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management/Climate
Change and Adaptation concerns; to assess the capacity of disasters and
emergencies and to ensure the safety of parents, teachers and students during and
after a damaging earthquake.
Ms. Remedios A. Alegado is the Resource Speakers of the said Training. She
discussed about what to do before, during and after the occurrence of earthquake,
typhoon and some kind of disasters brought by nature or manmade. The participants
are actively participated on the said training.
This kind of activity helps and strengthens the DRRM practices and
programs in school relating to the four thematic areas of DRRM, namely: disaster
prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, disaster
recovery and rehabilitation.
