Extinguishing Media: Liquid spray, foam, powder or carbon dioxide.
Use powder, carbon dioxide extinguisher at early stages of fire.
Form is suitable to block air in case of a large fire.
extinguishing media which
must not be used: Do not use direct jet of water to extinguish a fire. It may spread the
fire and can be very dangerous.
Specific hazards: Containers may explode when heated.
Specific methods of fire-
fighting: Keep the material away from the origin of fire.
Cool off surrounding facilities with water spray.
Keep unauthorized people away from the area of the fire.
Protective action for
fire-fighters: Fight fire from an upwind position and always wear protective equipment
while extinguishing the fire.
6. Accidental Release Measures
Personal precautions: May cause frostbite due to heat of evaporation of liquid petroleum gas
when directly on the skin.
Protective equipment and
emergency procedures: Isolate spill area immediately and maintain a suitable distance in all
directions.
Keep unauthorized people away.
Do not touch or walk through spilled material.
Environmental precautions: Ensure product does not flow into waterways and drainage systems.
Any agent used at sea should meet the technical criteria designated by
the Ministry of Land ordinance.
Recovery, neutralization
and method and equipment
for containment and
cleaning up: Remove all ignition sources immediately and stop leaks at the site.
Evacuate dangerous areas. Rope off the dangerous area and keep people
out.
For small spills, absorb with sand, sawdust, waste cloth, etc., and then
wipe up completely.
For large spills, make a dike to keep the material from spreading and
drain to a safe place for later containment.
Prevention measure for
second accident: Get rid of ignition sources in the region immediately and prepare
extinguishing media.
7. Handling and Storage
Handling:
Technical measures: Take equipment measures specified in 8 “Exposure Controls/Personal
Protection" and wear protective equipment.
Local exhaust, general
exhaust: Carry out local exhaust and general ventilation specified in 8 “Exposure
Controls/Personal Protection".
Precautions for safe
handling: Do not use high-temperature substance, sparks, and products causing fire
in the area.
Take necessary action to avoid static electricity and wear electrically
conductive clothing and shoes.
Containers should be firmly secured to prevent falling or being knocked
over.
Storage:
Technical measures: The storage site should be suitable for hazardous material Class 4
petroleum No.1 specified in the Fire Service Act, and provide the
necessary facilities (fireproof structure, explosion-proof structure,
etc.).
